In a 30 October 2020 interview with POPline, Brazilian DJ and producer Bhaskar discussed “Stone Heart,” released with Dutch label Armada Music and Som Livre. He described the single as a step toward a sound that could connect Brazil with international audiences—not as proof that it had already done so.
What Bhaskar said about “Stone Heart”
Interviewed by Leonardo Rocha, Bhaskar said Armada had embraced the track and that he was pleased to represent Brazil through the work alongside Armada and Som Livre. The release was presented as a joint label association; the interview does not establish an exclusive or ongoing contract.

Asked whether he considered Brazilian and overseas listeners while composing, Bhaskar said “Stone Heart” consolidated a direction he had been pursuing: music that could cross between Brazil and international markets. He said he had focused on Brazil in earlier years and was increasingly looking toward international opportunities. Those comments describe his artistic aim, not an independently verified market result. Read the POPline interview.
Music beyond the live show
Bhaskar also spoke about wanting people to hear his music away from performances—in their homes, at work, and while traveling. The interview’s Spotify-related language and streaming references belong to its 2020 context. They should not be read as a current ranking or audience measurement.

Bhaskar and Alok: shared beginnings, separate paths
Bhaskar said he and his brother, DJ Alok, began making music together as children before following distinct musical directions. He described them as remaining open to working together, rather than treating their separate paths as a permanent divide.
Other label releases mentioned in period coverage
“Stone Heart” was not the only label relationship discussed in interviews from that period. The examples below are separate historical releases; they do not establish a current exclusive deal with any label.

How to read the “Spotify star” label
The phrase in the original headline reflects how POPline described Bhaskar in 2020. The interview does not supply a current, independently verified Spotify ranking or listener count. Its useful record is historical: Bhaskar’s account of the release, his intended musical direction, and his wish for the music to reach listeners beyond clubs and festivals.
