What is Between the Temples about?
Jason Schwartzman plays Ben, a cantor coping with grief and a crisis of faith. Carol Kane plays Carla, his former grade-school music teacher, who becomes his adult Bat Mitzvah student. The unusual connection between them is the starting point for Nathan Silver’s film, which he co-wrote with C. Mason Wells. The Sundance program listing gives the film a runtime of 112 minutes and identifies it as an English-language U.S. production; it also lists Dolly de Leon, Caroline Aaron, Robert Smigel, and Madeline Weinstein among the cast.
