Its appeal is in the character-specific designs and play features: super-poseable Cyclops and Nightcrawler, several distinct Wolverine and Logan variants, plus Iceman and Magneto. Because these are vintage collectibles, the original lineup and its launch-era prices cannot tell you what is available or what a figure is worth today. Check the exact listing for its variant, included parts, packaging and condition.
Which figures were in Toy Biz’s X2 line?
ToyMania’s Toy Fair 2003 report described two planned waves of six-inch X2 figures. The first was planned for March/April 2003 and the second for September/November 2003. Those are reported release windows, not confirmation that every item reached every market on schedule. The report also covered larger-format releases. ToyMania’s Toy Fair 2003 report is the broadest source for the lineup and its described features.
| Wave or format | Figure | Reported features |
|---|---|---|
| First six-inch wave, planned March/April 2003 | Super-Poseable Cyclops | Light-up optic blast and exploding missile launcher |
| First six-inch wave, planned March/April 2003 | Super-Poseable Nightcrawler | Wall-mountable base and bendy tail |
| First six-inch wave, planned March/April 2003 | Super-Poseable Wolverine | Battle-action base |
| First six-inch wave, planned March/April 2003 | Battle Attack Logan | Tornado claw-slashing action |
| Second six-inch wave, planned September/November 2003 | Magneto | Magnetic base |
| Second six-inch wave, planned September/November 2003 | Super-Poseable Iceman | Light-up ice blasts |
| Second six-inch wave, planned September/November 2003 | Street Fight Logan | Claw-slashing action and interchangeable hands |
| Second six-inch wave, planned September/November 2003 | Claw Strike Wolverine | Catapult base |
| Second six-inch wave, planned September/November 2003 | Trenchcoat Cyclops | Feature details not stated in the ToyMania report |
The report also listed 12-inch rotocast figures, a 13-inch Battle Action Wolverine and an X-Jet vehicle. A retailer’s Series 1 case assortment provides another reference for its included variants, but neither a historical assortment page nor a release plan establishes current availability. Entertainment Earth’s Series 1 assortment page describes that case. For a collector checklist of variant names, see Figure Realm’s X2 checklist.
How to choose between the variants
Choose by character and version
“Wolverine” and “Logan” do not identify one interchangeable figure in this lineup. Battle Attack Logan, Street Fight Logan, Super-Poseable Wolverine and Claw Strike Wolverine have different names and reported action features. Cyclops also appears in super-poseable and trenchcoat versions. Match the exact variant name to the figure shown; a broad search for “X2 action figures” can mix them together.

Compare scale and display style
The Toy Fair report distinguishes six-inch figures from larger 12-inch rotocast figures and names a 13-inch Battle Action Wolverine. Treat those dimensions as release descriptions, not a guarantee about a resale listing: confirm measurements and scale for the specific item. “Super-poseable” is a release description, while the actual articulation and its condition should be assessed from the listing and its photos.
Check the accessories and action features
The defining extras can help identify a variant, but a listing may not include every original component. Look for the parts associated with the named figure: Nightcrawler’s bendy tail and base, Cyclops’s visor or launcher, or the relevant Wolverine/Logan claw mechanism and base. A 2003 collector review of Series 1 described Cyclops’s articulation, removable visor, light-up eyes and missile-launcher base, and Nightcrawler’s articulation, usable tail and wall-mountable base. It is a period collector review, not a controlled comparison. TNI’s May 4, 2003 Cyclops and Nightcrawler review offers those observations.

What should you verify before buying a vintage figure?
The historical sources document what the figures and assortments were described as, not the completeness or condition of a particular resale item. Treat the listing itself as the evidence for what is being sold.
- Identity: Check the exact character and variant name against the photos; do not assume a generic “X2 Wolverine” label distinguishes the versions.
- Included parts: Confirm that the pictured figure comes with the specific base, tail, visor, launcher, hands or other feature parts you expect. Ask the seller about anything not clearly shown.
- Condition: Inspect joints, paint, claws and action mechanisms in close-up photos. Ask whether moving parts work if operation matters to you.
- Packaging: Determine whether the item is loose, carded or boxed, and inspect the packaging condition separately from the figure’s condition.
- Scale: Check stated measurements rather than relying on a character name or a generic listing title.
Are the 2003 prices useful for buying one now?
Only as historical context. ToyMania reported suggested U.S. launch prices in 2003 of about $7.99 for six-inch figures and about $9.99 for larger 12-inch rotocast figures. It listed a suggested $16.99 for the 13-inch Battle Action Wolverine and about $19.99 for the X-Jet, which the report said included an exclusive six-inch Wolverine. These are launch-era suggested prices, not current resale prices or estimates of collectible value.

For a focused search, try the exact phrase “Toy Biz X2 X-Men United action figures” or combine it with a character and variant, such as “Toy Biz X2 Nightcrawler action figure.” Search results alone do not establish that a listing is accurate, in stock or fairly priced; compare the seller’s photos and item details with the variant you want.
