To rotate prerecorded videos in a continuous YouTube live stream, use an encoder or cloud service that assembles the videos into one continuous feed and sends it to YouTube. YouTube’s playlist-loop control repeats playback for viewers; it does not create the live feed. For a cloud option, StreamNeo keeps uploaded videos running on YouTube without a computer left on. Why a YouTube playlist loop is not enough
YouTube’s player can loop a video or playlist for someone watching it, but that playback setting does not send a continuous live feed to your channel. Rotation must happen in the workflow that produces the feed: an encoder or a cloud streaming service combines prerecorded material and sends it to YouTube. Choose where the continuous feed runs
Local software or hardware encoder
YouTube supports software encoders and standalone hardware encoders. With a local setup, the encoder is where you configure the source material and create the outbound feed. The computer or hardware and its internet connection must remain available for the stream to continue. YouTube’s guide identifies encoder categories but does not compare products or establish that a particular encoder handles playlist rotation, scheduling, or recovery. Cloud streaming service
A cloud service runs the feed away from your home computer. YouTube’s encoder guide names Gyre as a cloud-based option for 24/7 streams made from prerecorded video; that mention does not establish a head-to-head comparison or endorse a particular service. Verify how any service handles rotation, scheduling, outages, file requirements, and pricing before relying on it. Set up a local encoder for YouTube

Choose and prepare the rotation workflow. Select software or hardware that can produce a continuous feed from your prerecorded videos. Configure its source or rotation controls in that encoder. YouTube’s setup guidance does not specify the playlist controls, scheduling interface, supported source-file formats, or recovery behavior of third-party rotators; consult the chosen product’s documentation for those details.

Create or select a stream in YouTube Live Control Room. Copy the stream URL and stream key provided for that stream. Enter both in the encoder’s YouTube destination settings. Treat the key like a credential: anyone who obtains it may be able to send a feed to the associated stream. YouTube’s setup guide explains the encoder connection and stream key. Configure the output for your target format and connection. YouTube recommends RTMPS, constant bitrate (CBR), and a two-second keyframe interval; the interval should not exceed four seconds. For the documented RTMP/RTMPS guidance, supported video codecs include H.264, H.265 (HEVC), and AV1, and audio codecs include AAC and MP3. Choose a bitrate for the resolution, frame rate, and codec you intend to send rather than treating one value as universal.
As examples from YouTube’s H.264 recommendations, 1080p at 30 fps is 5 Mbps and 1080p at 60 fps is 6 Mbps. These are recommended settings, not a guarantee that a particular encoder or internet connection can sustain them. Check YouTube’s current table for your exact format before setting the encoder. Test before relying on the stream. Use representative video movement and audio, start the feed, and confirm that the preview appears in Live Control Room before you begin or announce the live broadcast. YouTube recommends testing and checking stream health; monitor the video and audio after going live as well. YouTube Help: encoder setup.

Plan how you will handle the archive. YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. Its stated automatic-archive rule does not promise the same behavior for longer continuous runs. If an archive matters, decide how you will preserve or publish the material and verify the applicable YouTube options for your stream duration. YouTube Help: encoder setup.

Keep rights and channel policies in view
Before putting a documentary, soundtrack, or other recording into a recurring live feed, make sure you have the rights and permissions needed to stream it. Repeating a file does not change its copyright status. YouTube’s encoder setup guidance covers connection and stream health, not whether a particular video is licensed or whether a channel’s content qualifies for monetization. Check the rights for each recording and the current YouTube policies that apply to your channel; do not assume that technical acceptance of a feed grants content rights.
