Best Software for Streaming Prerecorded Videos to YouTube 24/7

Compare cloud services, OBS looping, and scheduled prerecorded broadcasts to choose the right way to keep prerecorded videos streaming on YouTube around the clock.

For a prerecorded YouTube stream that needs to run around the clock, choose a cloud service built for continuous playback; for a no-subscription, locally controlled setup, OBS Studio can loop a file or playlist, but the computer and internet connection must stay on. StreamNeo is the first option to consider for a cloud-hosted YouTube loop: upload videos, add your stream key, and go live. YouTube’s encoder documentation also lists Gyre as a cloud tool for 24/7 prerecorded streams. These are relevant candidates, not independently tested winners. StreamYard fits scheduled, finite prerecorded broadcasts better than an uninterrupted loop.

Which software fits a 24/7 prerecorded YouTube stream?

Option Best fit What it does Important limitation
StreamNeo A cloud-hosted YouTube loop Runs uploaded videos or a playlist from the cloud, so a home computer does not need to stay on. Each slot includes one always-on stream, looping and playlists, 10 GB storage pooled across active slots, automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream, and support. Videos stream as uploaded, up to 4K 60fps, with no re-encode and one flat price per slot. YouTube only; plays uploaded videos rather than broadcasting a live camera. A free first day is available once per account, with no card required. Confirm current terms and availability before subscribing.
Gyre Cloud-based 24/7 prerecorded streaming YouTube’s verified encoder list describes Gyre as a cloud tool for 24/7 prerecorded YouTube streams without a dedicated PC. Current price, terms, uptime, and partner-program availability have not been independently verified. The listing establishes relevance, not a comparative performance result.
OBS Studio Local control and looping files or playlists OBS Media Source can loop a file; its VLC Video source supports playlists and has Loop Playlist enabled by default. The computer, power, encoder, and internet connection must remain available. No continuous uptime is established by the documentation.
StreamYard prerecorded broadcasts Scheduled prerecorded segments A prerecorded broadcast starts at its scheduled time and ends when the uploaded video finishes. Its help page lists maximum video lengths of 2 hours on Core, 4 hours on Advanced, and 8 hours on Team and Business. Those finite limits do not make it equivalent to one continuous 24/7 loop; verify current plan names and limits.
Restream Connecting a YouTube channel and configuring delivery Its YouTube guide documents channel connection and stream settings. The reviewed guide does not establish Restream as a standalone always-on prerecorded loop solution. Check that the workflow you plan to use supports continuous playback.

For the cloud option with a clear per-slot feature set and a free first day, see StreamNeo. If you want to operate the encoder yourself, OBS is the documented looping route. If the goal is a broadcast at a particular time that ends with the video, consider StreamYard instead. For Gyre or any other service, check current pricing, maximum input length and resolution, recovery behavior, monitoring, terms, and availability before committing.

What you need before going live

  • Your YouTube channel must be verified and have no live-stream restriction in the previous 90 days. YouTube says first-time live-stream enablement can take up to 24 hours.
  • YouTube’s current help guidance sets the minimum age for live streaming at 16. It also lists a maximum of 10 simultaneous active streams per channel and 3 per stream key.
  • Choose content you have the rights to stream. Live content must follow YouTube’s Community Guidelines and Terms of Service.
  • Decide how viewers will get a replay. YouTube’s encoder guidance says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived; do not assume a longer continuous stream will be preserved as one complete replay.
  • For a local encoder, use a stable computer and internet connection with enough upload capacity for the chosen bitrate, plus a plan for power, monitoring, and restarting after failures.

How to loop a prerecorded video with OBS Studio

This local workflow uses OBS as the encoder and YouTube Live as the destination. The OBS documentation covers Windows, macOS, and Linux for its media sources. Exact YouTube Studio labels can change, but the essential setup is to create a live stream, copy its server URL and key, and enter them in OBS.

  1. Enable live streaming on YouTube. Complete channel verification and enable live streaming in YouTube Studio. Allow up to 24 hours for initial activation. Confirm the channel is eligible before building the event.
  2. Create the YouTube stream. In YouTube Studio, open Create > Go live and create or select a stream. Copy the server URL and stream key shown for the stream. Keep the key private; anyone with access to it may be able to send video to your channel.
  3. Add your prerecorded media in OBS. In the scene’s Sources panel, select + and choose Media Source. Add the file, then enable Loop so playback restarts at the end. For a playlist, use OBS’s VLC Video source, add the playlist items, and check Loop Playlist (enabled by default in the documented source).
  4. Configure YouTube delivery. In OBS, open Settings > Stream, select the YouTube service, and enter the stream key. If the setup asks for a server, use YouTube’s stream URL. YouTube recommends RTMPS for encoder delivery.
  5. Set output to match your source and capacity. In Settings > Output, use a video encoder supported by your setup and a bitrate within YouTube’s current recommendation for the chosen resolution, frame rate, and codec. YouTube’s current table recommends H.264 at 10 Mbps for 1080p30 and 17 Mbps for 1080p60. Those are ingestion recommendations, not promises about your internet service. Set keyframes to 2 seconds; YouTube says not to exceed 4 seconds. Its current RTMP/RTMPS guidance lists H.264, H.265, and AV1 video encoding options.
  6. Test before leaving it unattended. Start the stream privately or unlisted if appropriate, use representative audio and motion, and check YouTube’s stream health and OBS output. Confirm the loop restarts correctly, audio remains in sync, and the connection sustains the selected settings before making the broadcast public.
  7. Keep the local system available. OBS must continue running, and the computer must stay powered and connected. Monitor the stream and have a recovery plan for a computer restart, network interruption, or encoder disconnect.

Or let it run in the cloud

With StreamNeo, upload your recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. The stream runs from the cloud, so nothing has to stay on at home. Videos stream as uploaded, up to 4K 60fps, at one price per slot; the service automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card, once per account. Monthly: $9.99 per month. UPI and cards are available in India; card checkout is available worldwide. Start your free StreamNeo day.

How to choose without confusing a loop with a scheduled broadcast

Choose cloud playback for unattended operation

A cloud service is the natural fit when the stream should keep playing without a dedicated PC at your location. YouTube’s encoder list specifically identifies Gyre for this use. StreamNeo is another cloud option, with one flat price per slot for any uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps and a first day free. Compare current service terms and verify that the exact playback, monitoring, and recovery behavior you need is included.

Choose OBS when local control matters

OBS gives you direct control over a local media file or playlist and documents loop support. In exchange, you take responsibility for the encoder computer, power, internet connection, and maintenance. The documentation does not establish a guaranteed unattended runtime.

Choose scheduled prerecorded broadcasts for finite segments

StreamYard’s documented workflow starts a prerecorded broadcast at its scheduled time and ends when the file finishes. Its listed per-video caps—2 hours on Core, 4 on Advanced, and 8 on Team and Business—make it a different category from a continuous loop. Check its current limits before planning a schedule.

Settings and stream health that matter

Bitrate, resolution, and frame rate

Set bitrate according to the resolution, frame rate, and codec you actually send. For H.264, YouTube’s current recommendations include 10 Mbps at 1080p30 and 17 Mbps at 1080p60. A higher resolution or frame rate generally requires more upload capacity; do not treat a platform recommendation as a guarantee that a particular connection can sustain it. YouTube’s current encoder guide also lists H.265 and AV1 as options for RTMP/RTMPS.

When using an adapter, if the device is recognized as USB 2.0, try using the other side with the USB-C port. Simply flip the capture card and reconnect it to be recognized as USB 3.0

Keyframes and protocol

Use RTMPS where available. Set the keyframe interval to 2 seconds, staying within YouTube’s guidance not to exceed 4 seconds. Restream’s guide also lists H.264, CBR, and a 2-second keyframe interval, but for a YouTube-only setup, use YouTube’s current encoder settings as the primary reference.

Validate the actual loop

Test the beginning, end, and transition back to the beginning of each file or playlist. Check for unintended black frames, silence, abrupt edits, and audio-level changes. Keep YouTube’s stream health visible during setup; a successful OBS connection alone does not establish that the incoming stream is healthy.

Copyright, reused content, and monetization

Having permission to upload a video does not by itself guarantee that a channel qualifies for monetization. YouTube’s monetization policy says repetitive or mass-produced content with little educational value, commentary, narrative, or variation may be ineligible. It also addresses reused content that lacks significant original commentary, substantive modification, or educational or entertainment value; permission alone does not settle that policy question. A continuous loop does not change the need for rights and meaningful value to viewers. Review YouTube’s channel monetization policies and its live streaming guidance before broadcasting.

Troubleshooting common problems

YouTube will not let the channel go live

Check channel verification, age eligibility, and whether a live restriction occurred in the last 90 days. If live streaming was just enabled, YouTube says initial activation may take up to 24 hours.

OBS connects, but YouTube shows poor stream health

Check that the selected bitrate matches the resolution, frame rate, and codec, and that the connection can sustain the upload. Confirm the keyframe interval is 2 seconds (and no more than 4), use RTMPS if available, and review YouTube’s encoder health indicators.

The video stops instead of restarting

For a single file, confirm Loop is enabled in the Media Source properties. For a playlist, confirm the VLC Video source contains the expected items and Loop Playlist is on.

The stream stops when nobody is at the computer

In a local OBS setup, check power settings, sleep behavior, network stability, and whether OBS remains open. If avoiding a continuously running home computer is the priority, use a cloud workflow rather than relying on a local encoder.

The replay is incomplete or missing

Do not plan on a single complete archive for a stream that runs beyond YouTube’s stated under-12-hour automatic archive threshold. If replay preservation is important, plan separate shorter broadcasts or keep an independent source recording.

Costs and operational trade-offs

OBS is a software-encoder workflow, but its practical cost includes a computer that stays on, electricity, a reliable connection, and your time monitoring and recovering it. Cloud services replace much of that local operating burden with a service fee; compare each provider’s current plan, duration and quality limits, storage, and recovery terms. StreamNeo offers daily, weekly, monthly, six-month, and yearly billing, with the same product on each plan. Its storage allowance is 10 GB per slot, pooled across active slots; contact support about five or more slots. See the current StreamNeo pricing, and use the upload-time calculator, cloud vs. PC cost calculator, and copyright safety checklist to plan. UPI and cards work in India; card checkout is available worldwide.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can a YouTube live stream run from a camera through StreamNeo?

No. StreamNeo loops uploaded videos or playlists; it does not go live from a camera.

Does looping prerecorded content guarantee YouTube monetization?

No. Monetization eligibility depends on YouTube’s policies and the content’s originality, rights, and value to viewers.

Can I use a continuous loop and still get a complete YouTube replay?

Do not assume so for a stream of 12 hours or longer; YouTube’s encoder guidance describes automatic archiving for streams under 12 hours.
