Repair common Windows errors and clear accumulated junk for a smoother, more stable PC - no reinstall needed.Free scan · no reinstallFor a free, do-it-yourself setup, use OBS Studio to send a looping playlist to YouTube Live—but your computer and internet connection must stay on. If you want the broadcast to keep running without a dedicated PC at home, consider a cloud service. StreamNeo is the first option to compare: it runs an uploaded playlist from the cloud, supports any uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, and gives you a free first day. Whichever setup you choose, confirm that you have the rights to livestream every track; streaming software does not grant music permission.
Which software should you choose?
| Option | Best for | What it does | Main trade-off |
|---|---|---|---|
| StreamNeo | Continuous YouTube streaming without leaving a computer running | Runs uploaded videos or playlists from the cloud and automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. Any uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps streams at one flat price per slot. | It is a paid service after the one free day per account; check current plan terms before subscribing. |
| OBS Studio | A free local setup with hands-on control | Encodes a live feed from your computer and sends it to YouTube. OBS says it is free and open source, with no watermark or bundled adware. | Your computer and internet connection must remain available; dropped frames can indicate an unstable connection or a bitrate your connection cannot sustain. |
| Gyre | Hosted continuous streaming of prerecorded video | YouTube’s verified encoder directory describes Gyre as a cloud-based 24/7 service that does not require a dedicated PC. | Check its current price, supported media formats, uptime terms and music-rights workflow directly with the provider. |
| Upstream | A browser-based cloud studio | YouTube’s verified encoder directory describes Upstream as a cloud studio for 24/7 live video streaming. | Confirm its current playlist-looping suitability, pricing and uptime terms with the provider. |
These are different operating models, not a tested performance ranking. Compare whether a local computer must stay on, how you supply and loop media, who is responsible for connection continuity, and the current price and service terms. For any hosted provider, verify the details that matter to your channel before relying on it for an unattended broadcast.
How to run the playlist with OBS Studio
YouTube’s encoder workflow uses a server URL and stream key from YouTube Studio. OBS sends your computer’s live output to that destination; for a playlist, arrange the media as a looping source or playlist in your OBS scene and verify the loop behavior before leaving the stream unattended. The exact controls can vary by OBS version and media-source arrangement, so test the specific playlist you intend to use.
- Enable YouTube live streaming. In YouTube Studio, enable live streaming for your channel. First-time enablement can take up to 24 hours, so do this before your planned start.
- Create or schedule the broadcast. In YouTube Studio, create or schedule a live stream and open the Live Control Room.
- Connect OBS. Copy YouTube’s server URL and stream key into OBS’s stream settings. Treat the key like a password: do not share it or show it in a recording or screenshot. If it is exposed, replace or reset it in YouTube Studio.
- Prepare and test the playlist. Add the media you have permission to livestream, confirm it plays in the intended order and loops as expected, and check that audio is present. Test the complete path from OBS to YouTube before relying on a long unattended broadcast.
- Start and monitor. Start streaming in OBS, then check the Live Control Room for the incoming feed and any warnings. Rising dropped-frame counts in OBS can indicate an unstable connection or a bitrate the connection cannot sustain.
- End deliberately. Stop the broadcast from the encoder and end it in YouTube Studio as appropriate. YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. Do not assume a longer continuous stream will produce one unbroken archive; plan how you will preserve recordings and restart the broadcast, and check YouTube’s current handling before depending on a specific video-on-demand result.
Keep the local connection sustainable
OBS depends on the computer and network that are running it. If the connection is unstable or cannot sustain the chosen bitrate, dropped frames may rise. For a continuous broadcast, test your actual setup and monitor the stream rather than assuming that a short successful test guarantees unattended continuity.

Music rights are a condition of going live
YouTube scans live streams for matches to third-party content. A detected match can lead to a placeholder image, warning, interruption or termination. YouTube also says a licensed track may still trigger interruption if its rights holder has not allowlisted your channel through Content ID. Resolve both the license and any required allowlisting with the rights holder or distributor before scheduling a continuous stream. YouTube Help: Copyright issues with live streams.

YouTube for Artists recommends coordinating with a label or distributor when using copyright-protected music during a live stream, to avoid issues such as copyright strikes. Creator Music is not a workaround: YouTube’s FAQ says it currently does not support licensing for live content. A track being available through Creator Music does not by itself authorize its use in a live broadcast. YouTube Creator Music FAQ · YouTube for Artists.

Troubleshooting a continuous playlist stream
- YouTube does not receive a signal: Confirm the stream is enabled, the broadcast exists in YouTube Studio, and OBS has the correct server URL and current stream key. Check that OBS is actually streaming and the Live Control Room shows an incoming feed.
- The stream drops frames or looks unstable: OBS identifies connection instability or a bitrate the network cannot sustain as possible causes of rising dropped-frame counts. Check the connection and whether it can support the configured bitrate.
- The playlist stops or repeats incorrectly: Check the playlist or media-source loop configuration in your chosen setup, then test a full cycle before leaving it unattended. Hosted providers may handle playlists differently; confirm their current controls directly.
- YouTube interrupts the broadcast for music: A license may not be enough if the rights holder has not allowlisted the channel through Content ID. Contact the rights holder or distributor and resolve the live-use permission and allowlisting before restarting.
- You need a recording of a long broadcast: YouTube automatically archives streams under 12 hours. For longer runs, plan an archive and restart approach, and check YouTube’s current archive handling rather than assuming a single continuous video will be available.
