For a mostly static Hindi sleep-music stream, a practical starting point is OBS at 1920×1080, 30 fps, H.264, CBR at 10 Mbps, a 2-second keyframe interval, and AAC stereo at 128 kbps and 44.1 kHz. If your upload connection cannot sustain that reliably, use 1280×720 at 30 fps and 6 Mbps instead. These are YouTube’s encoder recommendations, not a guarantee of uninterrupted streaming or a particular viewer-side quality.
Recommended OBS settings
YouTube’s current encoder guidance, accessed in 2026, gives the following H.264 targets. The 1080p30 profile is a sensible default when your connection can sustain it; 30 fps is an editorial fit for a mostly static sleep-music visual, not a result of a performance test.
| Setting | 1080p profile | Lower-bandwidth profile |
|---|---|---|
| Output resolution and frame rate | 1920×1080 at 30 fps | 1280×720 at 30 fps |
| Video encoder | H.264 | H.264 |
| Rate control | CBR | CBR |
| Video bitrate | 10 Mbps recommended; 5 Mbps minimum | 6 Mbps recommended; 3 Mbps minimum |
| Keyframe interval | 2 seconds; do not exceed 4 seconds | 2 seconds; do not exceed 4 seconds |
| Audio | AAC stereo, 128 kbps, 44.1 kHz | AAC stereo, 128 kbps, 44.1 kHz |
| Color | Rec. 709 for SDR | Rec. 709 for SDR |
| Ingest | RTMPS if supported by the selected YouTube stream configuration | RTMPS if supported by the selected YouTube stream configuration |
The bitrate figures and codec guidance are YouTube’s recommendations for encoder ingest, not measured results for a particular computer or home connection. YouTube transcodes live streams into formats for different devices and network conditions. Choose a profile your upload can sustain consistently rather than one it reaches only in a brief speed test. See YouTube’s encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions.
Set up OBS to repeat the music
Loop one recording
- In OBS, add a Media Source to the scene and select the local audio or video file.
- Enable Loop in the source properties so playback restarts when the file ends.
- OBS documents MP4 and MP3 among the supported formats. Check that the chosen file plays and that its sound reaches the stream’s audio mix. See the OBS Media Sources documentation.
Loop a playlist
- Add a VLC Video source and build the playlist from the files you intend to play.
- Leave Loop Playlist enabled if you want the list to repeat. OBS says VLC must be installed to use this source type.
- Listen through a complete media cycle before going live. Pay particular attention to gaps, abrupt volume changes, clipping, silence, and left/right channel balance at transitions.
The OBS documentation describes how to loop media; it does not establish unattended crash recovery, restart behavior after a computer reboot, or guaranteed 24/7 uptime. Plan how you will monitor the stream and recover it if OBS or the computer stops.

Connect OBS to YouTube and go live
- In YouTube Studio, create or open the live stream and locate its stream key in the stream settings. YouTube describes the key as the encoder’s password and address: keep it private, and do not include it in screenshots or public notes. See Manage live stream settings.
- In OBS, open Settings → Stream, select YouTube as the service, and connect your account or enter the stream key according to the option shown in your OBS version.
- Open Settings → Output and set the video encoder to H.264, rate control to CBR, bitrate to the profile you selected, and keyframe interval to 2 seconds.
- Set the output to 1920×1080 at 30 fps or 1280×720 at 30 fps, then configure stereo AAC audio at 128 kbps and 44.1 kHz. Use Rec. 709 for SDR video.
- Start streaming from OBS, then check the YouTube Live Control Room preview and stream health before sharing the broadcast. YouTube recommends setting up ahead of time, previewing, and monitoring audio and video. Its guidance says, “Make sure to test before you start your live stream” and “During the event, monitor the stream health and review messages.” See Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder and YouTube live streaming tips.
Test before leaving a stream unattended
- Run a representative test with the same music, visual motion, resolution, and bitrate planned for the broadcast.
- Listen for clipping, silence, gaps at loop boundaries, and channel imbalance; verify that OBS’s audio meters respond during playback.
- Watch the YouTube preview and stream-health notices for problems before treating the setup as ready.
- For a 24/7 broadcast, decide who will check it and what to do if the stream disconnects or the computer loses power or internet. The recommended encoder settings do not themselves provide recovery.
YouTube’s DVR option lets viewers pause and resume a live stream, but the cited guidance does not establish that a 24/7 broadcast will have a complete replay archive or specify retention for this use. Do not promise viewers they can replay the entire stream on that basis.
Common problems and fixes
YouTube reports an unstable stream
The connection may not reliably sustain the selected bitrate. Choose the 720p30 profile at 6 Mbps recommended (3 Mbps minimum) if the 1080p30 profile is too demanding, and retest on the connection you will use for the long run. YouTube advises matching quality to a reliable internet connection.

The stream starts but has no sound
Confirm the media source is playing, its audio is routed to OBS’s stream mix, and the correct audio device or track is active. Check the meters and the YouTube preview; listen for silence rather than relying only on the source appearing in the scene.
The music stops at the end of a file
For a single file, confirm Loop is enabled on the Media Source. For several files, confirm the VLC playlist is populated and Loop Playlist is enabled. Verify by letting playback reach the end rather than assuming the setting worked.

The stream disconnects or OBS closes
Encoder settings cannot guarantee recovery. Check the computer, OBS, and internet connection, restart the stream if needed, and verify the YouTube preview before considering it restored. A locally hosted setup requires a recovery and monitoring plan; no unattended recovery behavior is established by the OBS media-loop documentation.
Music rights and YouTube policy
Before broadcasting, confirm that you have permission for every recording and for the intended continuous YouTube livestream. Owning a copy or crediting the artist does not, by itself, establish streaming rights. The available policy material here does not determine whether a particular Hindi recording or license permits 24/7 use; confirm the terms with the rights holder and consult current YouTube policy for your channel and content.
