Twinless and The Ballad of Wallis Island are the highest-rated films labeled 2025 on Rotten Tomatoes’ current comedy guide, each at 97%. The guide’s overall top position belongs to Eephus at 100%, although Rotten Tomatoes labels that film—and Sister Midnight, at 98%—as 2024 releases. That distinction matters: this is Rotten Tomatoes’ guide for the 2025 comedy cycle, not a perfectly chronological or mathematically descending ranking of films released during the 2025 calendar year.
Rotten Tomatoes says its list is organized first by Certified Fresh, then Fresh, and finally Rotten films. The Tomatometer percentages below are therefore best read as a snapshot of critical reception, while the visible order also reflects those certification groupings. Ratings, review counts, and the list itself can change.

How to read this Rotten Tomatoes ranking
The Rotten Tomatoes comedy guide currently contains 42 titles, but it does not function as a simple highest-to-lowest Tomatometer table. For example, Grow appears at number 26 with a 93% Tomatometer, below several films with lower percentages.
That means the most precise interpretation is:
- Tomatometer: the percentage of published critic reviews that are positive.
- Certified Fresh, Fresh, and Rotten groupings: the categories that influence the guide’s displayed order.
- Release-year labels: Rotten Tomatoes’ page includes films labeled 2024 as well as films labeled 2025.
The list below preserves the guide’s reported order for the titles covered here rather than rearranging them into a misleading pure score sort.

The highest-rated films on the current guide
-
Eephus — 100% Tomatometer (labeled 2024)
A bittersweet baseball comedy set during a Sunday-league game between two teams playing on a field threatened by a construction project. Its humor is rooted in the players’ personalities and in the rituals and rules of the game. Rotten Tomatoes’ consensus emphasizes how the film uses baseball to reveal character. Although it is listed on the 2025 guide, its page label is 2024.
-
Sister Midnight — 98% (labeled 2024)
This Mumbai-set marriage story takes an unpredictable, genre-bending route through domestic conflict. Its placement near the top reflects unusually strong critical reception, but like Eephus, it is not labeled a 2025 release on the guide.
-
Twinless — 97% (labeled 2025)
Two men meet in a support group for people who have lost a twin and develop an unexpected friendship. The film combines grief, uncomfortable comedy, and major twists; Rotten Tomatoes’ consensus specifically highlights Dylan O’Brien’s performance. At 97%, it is one of the two highest-rated films on the page that carries a 2025 label.
Rank #2
-
The Ballad of Wallis Island — 97% (labeled 2025)
A warm, music-centered comedy about an eccentric lottery winner who tries to reunite former musical collaborators. Its appeal is less about a conventional joke-per-minute structure than about the odd, tender situation and the emotional friction surrounding the reunion. It shares the top Tomatometer score among the guide’s 2025-labeled films.

One of Them Days — 94% (labeled 2025)
Keke Palmer and SZA play roommates scrambling to solve a financial crisis after one roommate’s boyfriend misuses their rent money. The buddy-comedy setup gives the film a clear ticking clock and plenty of room for the two leads’ contrasting energy.

Rank #4
- The evil Empire has fallen, and Imperial warlords are scattered throughout the galaxy. As the fledgling New Republic works to protect everything the Rebellion fought for, they enlist the help of Mandalorian Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) and his young apprentice Grogu. Some flashing lights sequences or patterns may affect photosensitive viewers.
What stands out from the list
The top of the guide is not limited to conventional studio comedies
The strongest-reviewed titles cover a wide range of tones and structures: a baseball ensemble film, a marriage story with genre-bending elements, a grief-focused friendship comedy, a music-centered reunion, a financially pressured buddy comedy, and an offbeat holiday story. “Comedy” on this guide is a broad category rather than a promise that every film is a straightforward crowd-pleaser.
The 2025-labeled leaders are Twinless and The Ballad of Wallis Island
If the reader’s question is specifically “Which films marked 2025 have the highest Tomatometer scores?”, the answer is Twinless and The Ballad of Wallis Island, tied at 97% in the supplied snapshot. Calling either film the absolute best comedy of the year would go beyond what the data establishes; they are the highest-rated 2025-labeled entries on this particular Rotten Tomatoes guide.
The list includes films at very different points on the critical scale
The reported scores range from 100% for Eephus to 14% for Bride Hard. A Tomatometer score measures the proportion of positive critic reviews, not the size of the audience, the amount of laughter a viewer will have, or whether a film suits a particular taste. It also does not measure all reviews equally for quality or intensity: the percentage is an aggregation signal, not a substitute for reading the consensus and individual reviews.

Two useful ways to choose what to watch
Choose by tone
- Bittersweet and reflective: Eephus or Twinless.
- Warm and music-led: The Ballad of Wallis Island.
- Unpredictable and genre-mixing: Sister Midnight.
- Fast-moving buddy comedy: One of Them Days.
- Awkward holiday character comedy: The Baltimorons.
- Family animation: Zootopia 2, The Bad Guys 2, or Dog Man.
- Franchise comedy: The Naked Gun, Freakier Friday, Spinal Tap II: The End Continues, or Happy Gilmore 2.
Choose by viewing or collecting plans
For One of Them Days, check current digital, DVD, and Blu-ray availability before deciding whether to rent, buy, or collect it. The 2025 The Naked Gun is another ownership-friendly option: the research indicates availability for purchase through Amazon Video, while Prime Video has listed a two-film collection pairing the 2025 film with the original. Availability and editions can differ by territory.
Franchise companion: Readers interested in comparing the reboot with its predecessor can look for The Naked Gun 2025 DVD or Blu-ray and verify that the edition and region are correct before ordering. This is a purchase suggestion for franchise fans, not part of the Tomatometer ranking.
Dog Man offers a different kind of companion purchase. The animated comedy is based on Dav Pilkey’s children’s graphic-novel property, so families who enjoyed the film may also want to explore the Dog Man book series. The books are source-property companion material, not evidence that the film ranks higher, and age suitability should be checked for the individual child.
Before publication or purchase
- Recheck the Rotten Tomatoes page immediately before publishing any score or rank.
- Do not describe the guide as a strict 2025-release ranking: it includes 2024-labeled titles.
- Confirm the film’s release year, rating, review count, and current streaming or physical-media availability in the reader’s country.
- For Amazon or other retailer links, verify the exact edition, region, format, price, stock status, and applicable disclosure or affiliate rules.
- Remember that a high Tomatometer percentage indicates broad critical approval, not a guarantee that every viewer will enjoy the film.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the highest-rated comedy on Rotten Tomatoes’ 2025 guide?
Eephus is the highest-rated title in the supplied snapshot at 100%, but Rotten Tomatoes labels it 2024. Among films labeled 2025, Twinless and The Ballad of Wallis Island lead at 97% each.
Is Rotten Tomatoes’ list a strict ranking by Tomatometer score?
No. Rotten Tomatoes explains that the guide is organized by Certified Fresh, Fresh, and Rotten groupings. As a result, the visible order is not always a descending percentage ranking.
Why are 2024 movies included in a guide for 2025 comedies?
The guide is a current comedy guide for the 2025 movie cycle, and its entries do not all carry a 2025 release-year label. The page includes 2024-labeled films such as Eephus, Sister Midnight, and Friendship.
Can I buy or watch these movies online?
Availability depends on title, country, date, and format. The research reports purchase availability for One of Them Days on Amazon Video and on DVD/Blu-ray through Amazon and other retailers, and purchase availability for the 2025 The Naked Gun through Amazon Video. Check a current retailer or streaming guide before buying.
The Bottom Line
The clearest takeaway: Rotten Tomatoes’ current guide is led overall by the 2024-labeled Eephus at 100%, while the highest-rated films carrying a 2025 label are Twinless and The Ballad of Wallis Island, tied at 97%. Use the Tomatometer as a critical-consensus signal, not as a definitive measure of personal taste—and verify scores and availability because both can change.
