There is no authoritative rider poll that settles which motorcycle shows are “the best.” The strongest picks depend on what you want to watch: fictional club conflict, custom-bike builds, road-trip footage, racing, or stunt history. This guide groups the available recommendations by that choice—and distinguishes series from films and television specials.
What are the best motorcycle TV shows?
For fictional motorcycle-club drama, start with Sons of Anarchy or Mayans M.C.. For workshop and custom-build stories, look to American Chopper, Biker Build-Off, and Motorcycle Mania. For journeys on the road, the Long Way series and Ride with Norman Reedus are the natural choices. Racing and stunt fans should consider TT3D: Closer to the Edge, MotoGP documentary programming, and Evel Knievel television specials.
These are editorial recommendations, not a consensus ranking. They also do not all have the same format: TT3D is a film, the Knievel entries are specials, and Motorcycle Mania consists of three specials rather than a conventional ongoing series.
Motorcycle-club drama
Sons of Anarchy
This fictional FX drama centers on an outlaw motorcycle club. Hulu’s listing identifies seven seasons and 92 episodes, making it the longest-running club-drama option in this selection. Its appeal is serialized conflict and character drama, not documentary evidence about real motorcycle clubs.

Mayans M.C.
FX describes the series’ central conflict through EZ Reyes and the Santo Padre M.C. FX labels season five the show’s final season. Like Sons of Anarchy, it is scripted fiction rather than a factual account of club life.
Custom-bike building
American Chopper
A build-focused program for viewers interested in custom motorcycles and the process—and personalities—behind them. It is a better fit for workshop detail than for travel or racing action.
Rank #2
Biker Build-Off
This build-oriented program is another choice for viewers who want custom-bike creation to be the focus. Choose it over a road-trip show if fabrication and competing builds are the draw.
Motorcycle Mania
This is a set of three specials, not a standard multi-season series. It belongs on a motorcycle viewing list for its build-oriented subject matter, but viewers looking for a long episodic run should choose another title.

Long-distance motorcycle travel
Long Way Round
Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman travel from London to New York. The official Long Way site describes their journey as more than 20,000 miles in four months. Of these recommendations, it is the clearest pick for a large-scale overland journey.
Long Way Down
The second Long Way series continues the travel format with McGregor and Boorman. It suits viewers who want a multi-episode journey rather than a single race or workshop project.
Rank #4

Long Way Up
The third series in the set is another travel-focused choice. Apple TV Press said in an August 13, 2024 announcement that the three previous Long Way seasons were then streaming on Apple TV+; that statement describes availability at that time, not a guarantee of current access.
Ride with Norman Reedus
This is the pick for motorcycle travel presented through Reedus’s rides and stops, rather than the extended expedition structure of the Long Way series. It offers a travel-centered alternative for viewers who prefer ride-based episodes.

Best Value
Racing and stunt history
TT3D: Closer to the Edge
This is a film, not a television series. It belongs on the list for viewers drawn to motorcycle racing and the Isle of Man TT, but it is the wrong format if you specifically want an episodic show.
MotoGP and motorcycle-racing documentaries
Racing documentary programming is the category to choose when competition matters more than relaxed touring or custom builds. The recommendation is for the format and subject, not a single named series; check the program title and local catalog before looking for a particular installment.
Evel Knievel television specials
These are television specials rather than conventional series. They offer a stunt-history option for viewers interested in Evel Knievel and motorcycle spectacle, but should not be mistaken for a multi-episode documentary show.

Where to check availability
Streaming rights vary by country and can change over time, so check the local catalog before subscribing. Hulu lists Sons of Anarchy, and FX directs viewers to Hulu for Mayans M.C.. Disney+ has also listed Sons of Anarchy in a regional catalog; that listing does not establish availability everywhere. The official Long Way site presents an Apple TV+ viewing link, while Apple’s August 2024 announcement only confirms that the earlier three seasons were streaming there at that point.
