For a fantasy romance, start with The Owl House or She-Ra and the Princesses of Power; for a supernatural comedy with a trans lead, try Dead End: Paranormal Park; and for adult superhero comedy, choose Harley Quinn. This is a recommendation guide, not a definitive ranking: the shows differ in audience, genre, and how central their LGBTQ+ stories are.

Which show should you start with?
For a teen fantasy romance: The Owl House
Choose this if you want LGBTQ+ representation woven into a coming-of-age fantasy rather than kept in the background. GLAAD identifies Luz as bisexual and describes her relationship with Amity; its later report refers to Amity as Luz’s girlfriend and notes other LGBTQ characters. The romance is a clear starting point, while the wider cast makes the show more than a single-couple recommendation.

For an ensemble fantasy and a consequential finale: She-Ra and the Princesses of Power
Pick She-Ra for a larger adventure in which Adora and Catra’s relationship is central to the story’s emotional payoff. GLAAD describes the finale as confirming that they are queer and in love. Showrunner Noelle Stevenson’s interview also supports describing their relationship as explicitly queer and romantic, not merely a fan interpretation.
For a supernatural comedy with a gay trans lead: Dead End: Paranormal Park
Barney is the clearest reason to choose this series: GLAAD describes him as a gay trans boy. TIME adds that trans actor Zach Barack voices the character, and that the show is based on Hamish Steele’s DeadEndia graphic novels. That combination makes it a particularly direct recommendation for viewers seeking a trans lead in animated supernatural comedy.
#1 Best Overall
For adult superhero comedy: Harley Quinn
Choose this for an adult-oriented comedy that puts Harley and Poison Ivy’s romance near the center. GLAAD’s 2024–2025 report says the series aired its fifth season in early 2025 and continued to center their relationship. That dated report establishes the season’s airing at that time; it should not be read as a claim about later release status.
For action fantasy: Arcane
Pride’s guide recommends Arcane for the romance between Vi and Caitlyn. Treat that as a recommendation from editorial coverage rather than an official statement about the characters. It is a useful choice if you want LGBTQ+ romance within a broader action-fantasy story.

For a foundational family-animation option: Steven Universe
Steven Universe is singled out in both Pride’s guide and earlier GLAAD reporting. Those sources support its place on a recommendation list, but the evidence cited here does not establish detailed character- or episode-level claims, so this guide keeps the description broad.
