For a bhajan video you upload to YouTube, use an MP4 file with H.264 video and AAC-LC audio. Export progressive video at the source frame rate, use BT.709 for SDR, and enable MP4 Fast Start if your editor offers it. If by “24/7 playlist” you mean an always-on live event rather than a playlist of uploaded videos, the encoder settings are different: use YouTube’s live-ingestion guidance, not the upload bitrate recommendations.
First decide: uploaded playlist or continuous livestream?
A YouTube playlist of uploaded bhajan videos and a 24/7 live event are different workflows. A playlist is made from videos uploaded to YouTube; viewers play the videos as uploads. A continuous livestream sends a real-time feed from an encoder to YouTube Live. The file-format advice below applies to the uploaded-video workflow. A prerecorded MP4 file alone is not a live stream protocol.
- For a playlist viewers can play on demand: export each video using YouTube’s upload recommendations, then upload and add it to the playlist.
- For an always-on live event: configure an encoder or cloud streaming service for YouTube Live’s ingestion requirements. See YouTube’s live encoder settings.
Recommended export settings for uploaded bhajan videos
YouTube’s recommended upload encoding settings provide a practical baseline:
| Setting | Recommended choice |
|---|---|
| Container | MP4 |
| Video codec | H.264 |
| Scan and profile | Progressive scan; High Profile |
| Color sampling and encoding | 4:2:0 chroma subsampling; closed GOP; CABAC; two consecutive B frames |
| Frame rate | Keep the frame rate at which the source was recorded. YouTube lists common rates including 24, 25, 30, 48, 50 and 60 fps. |
| SDR color | BT.709 |
| Audio | AAC-LC is a conventional choice for stereo; YouTube also lists Opus and Eclipsa Audio. Use a 48 kHz sample rate. |
| MP4 layout | No edit lists; place the moov atom at the beginning of the file (often called Fast Start). |
For ordinary stereo bhajan audio, YouTube’s upload guidance recommends 384 kbps audio. Its other audio recommendations are 128 kbps for mono and 512 kbps for 5.1 audio. These audio figures are separate from the video bitrate.

Upload video bitrate examples
YouTube’s SDR upload recommendations vary with resolution and frame-rate class. Use the matching row for your export; these are upload recommendations, not live-stream bitrates.
| Resolution and frame rate | YouTube recommended SDR upload video bitrate |
|---|---|
| 720p, 24/25/30 fps | 5 Mbps |
| 720p, 48/50/60 fps | 7.5 Mbps |
| 1080p, 24/25/30 fps | 8 Mbps |
| 1080p, 48/50/60 fps | 12 Mbps |
These values reflect YouTube’s current upload guidance accessed in 2026. They are not universal targets for HDR, other resolutions, or a live encoder feed. If your editor offers a YouTube or H.264 MP4 preset, check that it does not change the source frame rate or omit Fast Start when those options are available.

Why Fast Start and frame rate matter
MP4 stores indexing information, including the moov atom. Putting it at the beginning (Fast Start) can make the file easier to process for playback while it is being delivered. YouTube’s upload recommendation also says to use no edit lists. If an export tool exposes these options, select Fast Start and disable edit lists.
Do not convert a 25 fps recording to 30 fps solely because 30 is common. YouTube advises uploading at the recorded frame rate; preserving it avoids an unnecessary frame-rate conversion. For standard-definition-range material, BT.709 is the stated color recommendation.

If you mean a continuous 24/7 livestream
For a live encoder feed, follow the applicable row in YouTube’s live settings rather than reusing an upload bitrate. YouTube’s live encoder guidance lists RTMP/RTMPS and supports H.264, H.265 (HEVC), or AV1 video with AAC or MP3 audio. It calls for constant bitrate (CBR), recommends a two-second keyframe interval, and says not to exceed four seconds. RTMPS is YouTube’s recommended secure extension.
YouTube transcodes a live feed into output formats for viewers. Match bitrate to the codec, resolution, and frame rate you actually configure. For H.264, YouTube’s current live guidance accessed in 2026 recommends 5 Mbps for 1080p30 and 3 Mbps for 720p30. Those figures are live-ingestion recommendations, not upload-export targets.

Operational checks before leaving a live stream running
- Test the complete encoder and internet setup before relying on a long-running event.
- Leave upload bandwidth headroom: YouTube recommends 20% above the total stream bitrate.
- If you are recording a local archive, check that the archive file is growing.
- Monitor the incoming audio and video quality; a correct export or bitrate cannot compensate for a failing connection or encoder.
YouTube’s guidance does not certify a particular looping tool or establish that a specific 24/7 setup will recover automatically. Confirm how your chosen encoder or service behaves if the feed disconnects, and how the event is restarted or archived.
