If you want YouTube’s native Premiere experience—a scheduled video page, countdown, reminders, comments, and chat—schedule the upload in YouTube Studio and select Set as Premiere. Restream and StreamYard can instead schedule a recorded video to play as a livestream. That can be useful, but it is not the same as creating a native YouTube Premiere.
Premiere or prerecorded livestream: choose the experience first
A YouTube Premiere is a feature for publishing a video as a shared viewing event. YouTube creates a public watch page before it begins, so people can share the page, set reminders, comment, and chat. A scheduled prerecorded livestream uses a service to broadcast a recording as live content. The event may have a destination page, but the available service documentation does not establish that it creates YouTube’s native Premiere page or its features.

How to schedule a native YouTube Premiere
- Open YouTube Studio and upload the finished video. Enter the title, description, thumbnail, audience, and other video details as you normally would.
- Choose Schedule. Set the future date and time for publication.
- Select Set as Premiere. Choose a countdown theme and countdown length if you want one, then schedule the Premiere.
- Share the watch page. YouTube creates the public page in advance. Viewers can visit it, set reminders, comment, and chat when the event is underway.
Native Premiere limits to check
- YouTube’s Premiere instructions say Shorts are not supported.
- YouTube says 360/VR180 videos and output above 1080p are not supported for Premieres.
- YouTube says an account with a Community Guidelines strike may have its Premiere kept private during the penalty period; reschedule it after the freeze.

Cloud services for prerecorded YouTube livestreams
These options address the adjacent use case: broadcasting a recording as live content. Their documented workflows should not be treated as a shortcut to a native Premiere.

2. Restream: schedule a recording as a live event
Restream’s documented workflow is to choose or upload a video, enter event details including date and time, select destinations, and create the event. Its guide says the video event airs automatically at the scheduled time. The YouTube Live event workflow also offers video files and playlists as sources. Restream’s Upload & Stream documentation describes uploaded or imported video storage, prerecorded events, playlists, and looping.

3. StreamYard: schedule a prerecorded stream to YouTube
StreamYard’s scheduling guide lists YouTube as a destination for advance scheduling and supports selecting a prerecorded video as the source. Its prerecorded-streaming guide describes choosing or uploading a recording, choosing destinations and a date and time, and optionally scheduling an announcement post. The guide says that without an announcement post, a watch-page link on destinations may not be available until the stream starts.

This is also a prerecorded livestream workflow, not a documented native YouTube Premiere workflow. Confirm current destination support and plan constraints before scheduling.

- Choose YouTube Studio when the countdown, advance Premiere page, reminders, comments, and chat are the point of the event.
- Consider Restream when you want a recording to start as a scheduled livestream and need its documented event and destination workflow.
- Consider StreamYard when you want scheduled prerecorded streaming to YouTube and value the option of an announcement post for an advance destination link.
- Consider StreamNeo when the actual goal is uninterrupted, looping YouTube playback from the cloud rather than a one-time scheduled Premiere.
Do not select a prerecorded-streaming service on the assumption that it creates a native Premiere page. Verify the current service documentation for the exact event behavior and any file, storage, destination, or plan limits that matter to your setup.
