Best Budget PC for a 24/7 YouTube Music Radio Channel in India

A mini PC can run a local YouTube music loop, but there is no verified budget model winner. Choose for sustained cooling, upload stability and recovery—or use a cloud service instead.

There is no evidence-based single “best budget PC” for a 24/7 YouTube music radio channel in India. YouTube does not publish a minimum mini-PC specification, and the available evidence does not establish a tested model, current Indian price or measured power use. A mini PC can be a sensible local encoder for a simple pre-recorded loop—but choose for sustained cooling, stable wired internet and recovery from failures, not the processor name alone.

If you would rather not leave a computer running at home, StreamNeo is the cloud alternative: upload your recording, add your YouTube stream key and go live. It keeps uploaded videos looping without a home PC. The guide below covers both approaches, along with YouTube settings, archiving and music-rights checks.

What to buy: choose a capable, serviceable mini PC—not a supposed winner

For a static or gently animated visual paired with pre-recorded music, a mini PC is a reasonable class of local encoder to shortlist. But no named model can be called the best budget choice on the evidence available: there is no current Indian retailer comparison or sustained-use test here. “Budget” also depends on your rupee ceiling, local stock, warranty and the electricity cost where you live.

Before buying, compare candidate mini PCs with a used or refurbished desktop and a spare laptop you already own. Test the actual stream before committing to a 24/7 run; a device that handles a short session may still overheat, throttle or fail during continuous operation.

Checklist for comparing hardware

  • Sustained encoding: Confirm it can encode your chosen codec, resolution and frame rate with your intended visual complexity. CPU branding alone does not establish sustained performance.
  • Cooling and placement: Consider the unit’s cooling design and the ambient conditions at the installation site. Heat and blocked airflow can affect long-running operation.
  • Wired network: Prefer Ethernet where possible, and measure upload speed at the actual install location. A fast download result does not tell you whether your stream can upload reliably.
  • Recovery: Check whether the computer can restart after a power interruption, whether you can reach it remotely and how you will notice if the encoder or stream stops.
  • Support and total cost: Compare warranty, local service, replacement availability and any extra RAM, storage, cables or other accessories. If electricity matters to your budget, measure actual wall power; an adapter’s rating is not the machine’s measured average consumption.

YouTube does not specify a mini-PC power requirement, and no candidate’s wattage or Indian electricity tariff is established here. Avoid treating an illustrative electricity calculation as a measured bill.

Match the PC and internet connection to your stream

The right encoding load depends on whether your radio uses a still image, an animated scene or higher-motion video. YouTube recommends testing with audio and movement similar to what you intend to broadcast. Select settings your encoder can sustain and your upload connection can carry reliably.

YouTube encoder settings to plan around

YouTube’s current encoder guidance, accessed in 2026, supports RTMP/RTMPS delivery, H.264, H.265 or AV1 video, AAC or MP3 audio, and constant bitrate (CBR). It recommends a two-second keyframe interval; the interval should not exceed four seconds. The recommended bitrate varies by codec, resolution and frame rate.

Check upload bandwidth, not just download speed

YouTube recommends testing upload speed and keeping total stream bitrate below the available upload bandwidth, with 20% headroom on its network guidance. For example, do not plan around the full upload result from a speed test: other devices and network fluctuations can use capacity too. Run a preflight test and monitor YouTube’s stream health while testing. A reliable connection at the PC matters more than a headline speed measured elsewhere in the home.

Set up the channel and encoder

YouTube’s live-stream eligibility guidance says the channel must be verified, must not have had a live-stream restriction in the preceding 90 days, and the creator must be at least 16. YouTube offers mobile, webcam and encoder workflows; an encoder is the relevant route for a PC-based music-and-visual loop. Check the current requirements and steps in YouTube’s live-streaming help.

  1. Prepare the channel: Complete YouTube’s verification and eligibility steps, then enable live streaming if required. Allow for any activation delay shown in YouTube Studio.
  2. Build and test the loop: Prepare the audio and visual material you have rights to use. Test with representative movement and sound rather than a silent or static placeholder if the live version will be more demanding.
  3. Choose encoder output: Set the codec, resolution, frame rate, bitrate, CBR mode and keyframe interval. Use YouTube’s recommendations as a starting point, then verify the result in a test stream.
  4. Copy the stream details: In YouTube Studio, create or schedule the stream and copy its stream URL and stream key into the encoder’s corresponding fields. The key works like a password: do not publish it or share it. Reset it if it is exposed.
  5. Run a preflight: Start a test, confirm audio and video playback, review YouTube’s stream health, and check that the upload connection has headroom. Test recovery and confirm any local recording is usable.
  6. Monitor operations: Plan how you will detect a stopped stream, restore power or internet, and restart the encoder. A 24/7 channel is an operating setup, not a guarantee of uninterrupted uptime.

Plan archives separately from continuous broadcasting

A continuous radio presence and a dependable video archive are different goals. YouTube says streams shorter than 12 hours can be automatically archived; streams longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all. If preserving each broadcast matters, plan sessions under that threshold or keep a separate local recording. YouTube also recommends recording a local archive as a backup.

See YouTube’s live-stream archive guidance before deciding how to schedule sessions. Include time to end and restart a session if you need separate archives rather than assuming one indefinite broadcast will produce a complete replay.

Clear music rights before you go live

Technical ability to play a track is not permission to broadcast it. The creator is responsible for having the necessary rights for music and other material in the stream. The India-focused result available for this topic raises that responsibility but does not establish the permissions needed for any particular catalogue or explain Indian copyright law in detail. Confirm permissions with the relevant rightsholders or qualified counsel before broadcasting. Platform enforcement or a copyright issue can disrupt a stream even when the PC and connection are working.

Budget for the whole operating setup

Compare the full cost of a local PC—not just its purchase price—with what you already own and need to add. Potential costs include storage, a wired-network connection, a UPS if suitable for your power situation, local servicing and electricity. No named Indian model, current rupee price, measured wattage or tariff-based monthly estimate is established here, so check current local listings and measure actual power use rather than relying on a generic bill estimate.

For a local setup, power, internet and encoder recovery remain your responsibility. A UPS or Ethernet cable may help in some installations, but suitability depends on the equipment and the power and network conditions at your location.

Troubleshooting a 24/7 PC radio stream

Symptom Likely cause What to check
YouTube reports a poor or unstable stream Upload capacity is insufficient or fluctuating, or the total bitrate leaves too little headroom. Test upload at the PC, reduce output bitrate or quality if needed, reserve the recommended headroom and check stream health again.
Video drops frames or the computer slows down The encoder workload, scene complexity, heat or throttling may be too high for sustained operation. Test the intended visual and audio; reduce resolution, frame rate or scene complexity, and check airflow and temperatures.
The encoder cannot connect to YouTube The stream URL or key may be incorrect, or the connection may be unavailable. Check the URL and key in YouTube Studio and the encoder. If the key may have been exposed, reset it and update the encoder.
The stream stops after a power or internet interruption The PC, router or encoder did not recover automatically. Test restart and recovery behavior in advance, use remote access where practical, and establish a way to notice and respond to an outage.
A long broadcast has no complete archive Streams over 12 hours may not be captured by YouTube’s automatic archive. Schedule shorter sessions or make and verify a separate local recording.
Music is muted, claimed or the stream is interrupted The broadcast may not have the necessary music rights or may be affected by platform enforcement. Confirm broadcast rights for every track and respond through the appropriate rights-holder or YouTube process.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does YouTube require a mini PC for a 24/7 music stream?

No. YouTube documents encoder requirements and settings, not a required mini-PC class or minimum PC specification.

Can I use a static image with music?

A static visual can reduce scene complexity, but you still need to test the actual audio and stream settings. Confirm that you have the rights to broadcast the music and visual.

Will one YouTube broadcast create an archive if it runs all day?

Not necessarily. YouTube says streams longer than 12 hours may not be captured, so use shorter sessions or a separate recording if an archive matters.
