The right Bluetooth adapter depends on the direction of the audio. To send records to Bluetooth headphones or speakers, buy a transmitter. To send phone audio into an amplifier, buy a receiver. If you need both functions, choose a transceiver. Before buying anything, confirm that your turntable provides line-level output—or add a phono preamp.

For premium flexibility, the iFi ZEN Blue 3 is the most capable option here. The FiiO BTA30 Pro is the strongest multi-source desktop alternative. The Audioengine B1 Next Gen is a receiver for adding Bluetooth to a wired stereo, not a normal turntable-to-headphones transmitter. For a basic line-level turntable setup, the 1Mii B06TX is the budget-oriented transmitter candidate.

Choose the signal path before choosing a product

What you want to do Required device Typical connection
Play vinyl through Bluetooth headphones, earbuds, speakers or a soundbar Bluetooth transmitter Turntable line output → transmitter → Bluetooth receiver
Play phone or tablet audio through an amplifier Bluetooth receiver Phone → receiver → amplifier line input
Do both jobs, or add digital conversion and multiple inputs Bluetooth transceiver Transmitter and receiver modes in one unit

A receiver-only product cannot normally send a turntable’s audio wirelessly. That is why the Audioengine B1 is appropriate for phone-to-stereo streaming but not, by itself, for turntable-to-headphones use.

Check the phono signal first

A cartridge’s raw phono output is too quiet and has the wrong frequency balance for a normal Bluetooth transmitter. It needs RIAA equalization and gain from a phono preamp.

Esinkin Bluetooth Audio Adapter for Music Streaming Sound System
  • Listen music wireless: Connect with computer speakers, home stereo systems or other speaker systems via the 3.5 mm or RCA cable, then pair with the Bluetooth audio devices such as smartphones or tablet for streaming music.
  • Easy setup and automatic reconnect: There is a big bluetooth symbol button in bluetooth receiver middle. Pair your bluetooth device to this adapter with a single button press. Click once means Bluetooth Connect/Disconnect. Hold the botton 3 second mean ON/OFF. It can reconnect automatically with the previously paired device.
  • Wireless range: Indoors(without obstacles) connect rang up 30-40 ft (10-12 m).
  • Works with most device: Bluetooth enabled device including smartphones, tablets, computers, laptops upon and any powered PC speakers, home stereo systems and A/V receivers.
  • NOTE: This adapter doesn't have built-in battery, power by AC to DC power adapter or USB cable. This product is a bluetooth receiver ONLY, not a bluetooth transmitter. Only to give Bluetooth capabilities to an existing stereo / powered speaker / PA. If you have any problems, please contact us at any time by Amazon Order, and we will speed up the process to resolve the issue.
  • LINE OUT or PHONO/LINE switch: set the turntable to LINE and connect it to the transmitter.
  • PHONO output only: connect the turntable to an external phono preamp, then connect the preamp’s LINE OUT to the transmitter.
  • Turntable already connected to an amplifier: use a suitable tape out, record out, preamp out or zone output if the amplifier provides one.
  • Never connect raw PHONO output to a normal line-level transmitter unless that transmitter explicitly includes a phono input.

The Audio-Technica AT-LP60XBT illustrates the convenient case: its manual documents switchable PHONO and LINE outputs, an integrated RIAA phono preamp, Bluetooth 5.0, aptX and SBC support, and an approximately 10 m/33 ft line-of-sight specification. That range is a manufacturer figure, not a guarantee through walls. See the AT-LP60XBT manual.

Detailed recommendations

iFi ZEN Blue 3: best premium all-in-one choice

The ZEN Blue 3 is suited to an enthusiast who wants one box to transmit vinyl, receive phone audio and operate as a digital audio hub. iFi lists Bluetooth 5.4, aptX Lossless, LDAC, aptX Adaptive, aptX, AAC and SBC, plus RCA, optical, coaxial and USB connections and RCA and balanced 4.4 mm outputs. Its specifications state up to 96 kHz/24-bit in Bluetooth transmit and receive modes.

aptX Lossless is a manufacturer-supported mode, not a guarantee that every connection will be lossless. The source, ZEN Blue 3, receiving device and headphones or speakers must all support the relevant mode. The launch media material listed approximately $299; the current official page shows regional availability rather than a confirmed current U.S. price. Documentation is available in the product media deck and user manual.

FiiO BTA30 Pro: best versatile desktop transceiver

The BTA30 Pro makes sense when a stereo has several digital sources as well as a turntable. It can transmit, receive and perform DAC duties, with USB, optical and coaxial inputs; optical, coaxial and RCA outputs; and app control. FiiO lists LDAC, aptX HD, aptX Low Latency, aptX, AAC and SBC, along with DAC handling up to 384 kHz/32-bit PCM and native DSD256. Those DAC figures do not describe Bluetooth transmission quality.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

FiiO documents limitations when using advanced codecs with two connected devices. Check its FAQ and operating-mode instructions if simultaneous connections matter.

Audioengine B1 Next Gen: best dedicated receiver

Use the B1 when the desired path is phone or tablet → Bluetooth receiver → amplifier or powered speakers. Audioengine lists aptX Adaptive, 32-bit processing, RCA output, a $189 price on its buying page and a three-year warranty. It does not replace a phono preamp and does not transmit a turntable’s signal to Bluetooth headphones. Pairing information is also provided on Audioengine’s support page.

MANAYO PM5BT Qualcomm Bluetooth Transmitter Phono Preamp for Turntables
  • [Instant Wireless Upgrade for Vinyl] Wish you could listen to your records on wireless speakers? The PM5BT features a high-performance Bluetooth 5.3 Transmitter designed to beam audio from your turntable directly to Bluetooth headphones or speakers. It’s the perfect solution for those wanting to declutter their living space while enjoying the tactile experience of vinyl records.
  • [Seamless "Blind" Pairing Technology] Pairing Bluetooth gear shouldn't be a hassle. Equipped with a Qualcomm audio chip, the PM5BT supports automatic pairing. Simply place your Bluetooth speaker near the preamp (within 3 feet) and they will sync automatically within 60 seconds. An external antenna is included to ensure a stable, long-range connection up to 33 feet, preventing annoying audio dropouts.
  • [Optimized Phono/Line Input Switch] Addressing the challenge of equipment compatibility, the PM5BT includes a Phono/Line selector. This flexibility ensures your music is always played at the correct volume level with maximum clarity and zero distortion.
  • [Personalized Soundstage & Headphone Out] Take full command of your audio with dedicated Bass, Treble, and Master Volume dials. This allows you to fine-tune the frequency response to suit your specific speakers or personal taste. For late-night sessions, the 3.5mm headphone output provides a high-quality direct connection, solving the problem of how to enjoy vinyl privately without a massive amplifier.
  • [Reliable Shielding & Silent Background] Background noise can ruin the vinyl experience. The PM5BT features a solid ground post (GND) to eliminate ground-loop buzzing, while the aluminum shell protects the sensitive internal circuitry from electromagnetic interference. With an ultra-low THD <0.01%, this preamp ensures your records sound as pristine as the day they were pressed.

1Mii B06TX: budget-oriented transmitter candidate

The B06TX is the appropriate category for a line-level turntable that only needs to transmit to Bluetooth headphones or speakers. The official FAQ documents RCA operation, 5V/1A power and codec behavior including aptX Low Latency when the receiving device supports it. The exact connector revision, availability and current price should be checked against the official documentation; no current official price is stated here.

Codecs: match the complete wireless chain

Codec Practical meaning
SBC Baseline, broadly compatible Bluetooth audio. Usually sufficient for casual listening.
AAC Commonly important with Apple devices, provided the receiving hardware also supports it.
aptX and aptX HD Common on enthusiast hardware; verify the exact product generation.
aptX Low Latency Useful for television and gaming lip-sync. Both ends must support it.
LDAC Higher-bitrate option on compatible Android devices and receiving products; it does not guarantee an audible improvement in every system.
aptX Lossless Supported by the ZEN Blue 3, but usable only when every required device negotiates that mode.

Bluetooth negotiates a mutually supported codec. An LDAC-capable transmitter cannot make an SBC-only speaker use LDAC. Identify the weakest link before paying for a premium codec.

Bluetooth version is not a sound-quality ranking

Bluetooth 5.4 is not automatically better sounding than Bluetooth 5.0. Prioritize the device role, connectors, phono compatibility, codec matching, latency, pairing reliability, antenna placement and—when receiving into an amplifier—the analog output stage. The BTA30 Pro and ZEN Blue 3 demonstrate why version numbers alone are not meaningful buying criteria.

Step-by-step setups

Turntable with a built-in phono preamp

  1. Set the turntable’s output switch to LINE.
  2. Connect its RCA output to the transmitter’s RCA or AUX input.
  3. Power the transmitter and enter pairing mode.
  4. Put the Bluetooth speaker or headphones into pairing mode.
  5. Wait for pairing, start the record and set listening volume on the receiving device.

Turntable without a built-in preamp

Use this chain: Turntable PHONO OUT → phono preamp PHONO IN → preamp LINE OUT → Bluetooth transmitter → headphones or speakers.

Transmitting from an existing amplifier

Use turntable → amplifier PHONO input → amplifier TAPE OUT, LINE OUT or PRE OUT → transmitter. A speaker-level output must never feed a line-level transmitter. Tape/record outputs may be fixed-level, so volume may need to be adjusted at the Bluetooth receiver. Some amplifiers do not route their phono input to every output.

Adding Bluetooth input to a wired stereo

Use phone/tablet → Bluetooth receiver → receiver RCA OUT → amplifier AUX, CD or LINE input. This is the intended B1 use case.

Compatibility checklist

  • Confirm RCA, 3.5 mm, optical, coaxial, USB or balanced connections on both sides.
  • Confirm the turntable supplies LINE level or budget for a phono preamp.
  • Check codec support on the headphones or speaker, not just the adapter.
  • For television or gaming, confirm low-latency support at both ends.
  • Verify power requirements, automatic reconnection, standby behavior and remembered devices.
  • Allow for walls, metal furniture, Wi-Fi congestion and orientation when judging range.

The B06TX documentation specifies a 5V/1A supply and discusses automatic shutdown behavior. Treat such manufacturer specifications as model-specific rather than universal Bluetooth behavior.

Troubleshooting common failures

No sound or very quiet sound

  • Check that a transmitter—not a receiver—is being used for turntable-to-speaker playback.
  • Set a built-in preamp turntable to LINE.
  • Add an external phono preamp to a PHONO-only turntable.
  • Confirm the receiving speaker or headphones are connected to the transmitter rather than a nearby phone.
  • Check fixed-level outputs and raise volume at the receiving device.

Pairing fails

  1. Turn off Bluetooth on nearby phones and tablets.
  2. Clear the speaker’s old pairing list.
  3. Put both products into fresh pairing mode.
  4. Pair at close range, then return the adapter to its intended position.

Hum or buzz

Bluetooth does not remove noise created before transmission. Inspect the turntable ground wire, phono-preamp grounding, RCA routing, power-strip arrangement and nearby AC adapters. Do not connect the same signal through conflicting PHONO and LINE stages.

Dropouts, delay or unexpected SBC

Move the adapter away from Wi-Fi routers, motors, power bricks and dense cable bundles. A low-latency label on one product is insufficient; both devices must support the mode. If the receiving device lacks the advertised codec, the connection will negotiate another available codec such as SBC. Advanced codecs can also restrict simultaneous connections on some transceivers.

When wired audio is the better answer

Choose a wired connection when the amplifier is nearby, maximum fidelity is the priority, codec compression is unacceptable, or the system is sensitive to delay and wireless dropouts. Bluetooth improves placement flexibility and convenience; it does not improve the cartridge, tonearm or phono stage. A new integrated Bluetooth turntable is simpler, while an external transmitter preserves a mechanically sound turntable and can be replaced as standards evolve, at the cost of another box, cable and power supply.
