YouTube also accepts MP3 for live audio, but recommends 128 kbps for stereo. Use constant bitrate (CBR) encoding and RTMPS ingest if your encoder offers it. These settings target YouTube’s published guidance; they do not guarantee a particular sound on every listener’s device or connection.
Recommended YouTube audio settings for kirtan
| Setting | Recommended value | What to choose |
|---|---|---|
| Audio codec | AAC | Use AAC when available. YouTube also accepts MP3 for live audio. |
| Sample rate | 44.1 kHz | Set the encoder to 44.1 kHz for the stream. |
| Stereo bitrate | 128 kbps | Use this published stereo recommendation rather than assuming a higher bitrate will improve what viewers hear. |
| Bitrate mode | CBR | Choose constant bitrate encoding if the encoder provides the option. |
| Ingest protocol | RTMPS | Use RTMPS when offered; YouTube says it encrypts stream data to and through Google’s servers. |
These are audio recommendations. Video resolution and video bitrate are separate choices: set them for the visual content and the stability of your upload connection. YouTube’s encoder guidance recommends testing the upload bitrate with a speed test using audio and video resembling the actual broadcast, then monitoring stream health and messages while live. YouTube’s live encoder settings guidance gives its current recommendations.
Prepare and test the full stream
- Configure the audio path. Set the encoder’s live audio output to AAC, 44.1 kHz, 128 kbps stereo. If AAC is not available, MP3 is also accepted for live audio; use 128 kbps for stereo.
- Choose video settings independently. Select resolution and video bitrate based on what the stream shows and the upload capacity you can sustain. Increasing video bitrate does not raise the audio bitrate.
- Test the real configuration. Run an upload speed test and test a broadcast using audio and video similar to what you intend to stream. A speed test alone does not confirm that the complete encoder-to-YouTube setup is stable.
- Check stream health while live. Watch YouTube’s stream-health indicators and messages during the test and broadcast. Respond to warnings rather than assuming the initial connection will remain stable.
- Choose the encoder that suits your workflow. YouTube’s encoder workflow supports software encoders and standalone hardware encoders. A hardware encoder is optional; the published guidance does not establish that one is necessary for an audio-focused stream.
YouTube’s guidance is to “run a speed test to test your upload bitrate.” See Choose live encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions for its recommendations and stream-health guidance.
Plan for long-session archives and rewind
A single 24-hour broadcast has important replay limitations. YouTube warns that a stream longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all. If keeping a complete recording matters, make a local archive; do not rely on YouTube to produce a full replay of one uninterrupted day-long stream. YouTube’s archive guidance explains the limitation and recommends keeping a local copy.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Rewind is a separate concern: YouTube says DVR rewind may be limited or unavailable for streams longer than 12 hours. The platform does not prescribe a particular restart interval that guarantees archive or DVR behavior, so plan around the stated limitations rather than assuming that splitting a broadcast into a chosen schedule will solve them. See YouTube’s DVR guidance.
Confirm music rights before streaming
Kirtan being devotional does not by itself establish that a particular recording or performance is cleared for livestreaming. Check the rights for the specific audio you plan to use. YouTube’s livestream terms require streamers to have the necessary rights for live content, including music licensing rights from artists, labels, publishers and other rights participants. This is a platform requirement, not a legal determination about any specific song or territory. Read YouTube’s livestream terms.

YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. A match may cause a placeholder image to replace the stream, and continued use can lead to temporary interruption or termination. Even a recording you have licensed can be interrupted if the channel has not been added to the rights owner’s Content ID allowlist. Confirm any required allowlisting with the rights holder, and review YouTube’s guidance on copyright issues with live streams.
