Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield teamed up with MoveOn in September 2024 to introduce Kamala’s Coconut Jubilee, a limited-edition coconut ice cream with caramel ripple and confetti stars. It was a Ben’s Best giveaway tied to MoveOn’s “Scoop the Vote” tour—not a regular Ben & Jerry’s retail flavor. The name nodded to the viral “coconut tree” meme about Kamala Harris.
What was Kamala’s Coconut Jubilee?
The pint combined coconut ice cream, a caramel ripple and confetti stars. It carried the Ben’s Best label, rather than the standard Ben & Jerry’s brand. Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield created it with MoveOn as part of the group’s 2024 “Scoop the Vote” ice cream truck tour, which paired free ice cream with voter engagement. The Hill’s report on the flavor and tour described plans for stops in more than 20 battleground-state cities; that figure was a planned tour count, not a confirmed total of completed stops.
Distribution was limited. The Hill reported that pints would be given away or distributed by raffle, and WHYY reported in 2024 that the flavor was not available in stores. The reporting does not establish that the exact pint can be bought today.
What is the coconut tree meme, and why did the flavor reference it?
The meme grew from a speech Harris gave in May 2023. She recalled her mother asking, “I don’t know what’s wrong with you young people, you think you just fell out of a coconut tree?” Harris then made a broader point: people should be understood in the context of their lives and the experiences that came before them.

The clip resurfaced online in July 2024 and became a meme, with people remixing the coconut-tree line. The Guardian reported on July 22, 2024 that one popular cut of the soundbite had been used in more than 18,000 TikTok videos by that date. That is a historical count, not a current total. The ice cream’s name played on the meme’s instantly recognizable phrase while also referencing the original anecdote.
Was it a regular Ben & Jerry’s flavor?
No. The co-founders made the pint under the Ben’s Best label for a specific 2024 tour campaign. The available reports do not describe it as a flavor sold through Ben & Jerry’s ordinary retail range. Its connection to the company’s founders should not be confused with a standard store launch.
