Professional dancer Siobhan Power was his partner. PerthNow described Cousins as “all smiles” and reported that he wore casual activewear and flashed a peace sign.
Why Cousins was at rehearsal
The sighting came as Cousins prepared for the 2024 season of Dancing With the Stars. PerthNow’s 20 February report said he had been photographed arriving at a Sydney gym or studio for choreography rehearsal with Power. The “all smiles” description refers to the photographs; it does not establish how he felt privately.

PerthNow attributed Cousins’s comments about the show to an earlier interview with The Sunday Times, rather than to remarks made at the rehearsal. He described the opportunity as a new challenge: “It’s good timing I suppose, in a position to probably take on some new challenges and in a good space,” he said. He added: “I’m not exactly sure what I’m going to get out of it. But I think it will surprise me. And I have enjoyed it up until now — but it has been hard.”
He also said, “So there’s certainly no time to lose momentum … or let life get in the way.”

Siobhan Power was Cousins’s professional partner
Power was the professional dancer paired with Cousins for the season. PerthNow noted that she had previously partnered Jamie Durie, Curtly Ambrose and Kris Smith on the show. In separate early-season coverage, The West Australian reported that rehearsals involved long days and quoted Cousins describing the training as a steep learning curve. He praised Power as “lovely, very patient and a great teacher,” he said.
7NEWS also reported that Cousins had voiced concern about old back injuries and the prospect of spending eight or nine hours on the dancefloor on consecutive days. That was his personal concern during preparation for the 2024 season, not a current health update or medical advice.

What happened after the rehearsal sighting
In a September 2024 reflection, Cousins said the experience had reminded him to “not play it safe” and to “keep an open mind, try new things.” Later coverage reported that Cousins and Power were eliminated in the semi-finals, before the grand finale. Those developments came after the February rehearsal report.
