Ben Affleck was photographed without his wedding ring during a June 2024 lunch outing in Los Angeles while Jennifer Lopez was vacationing in Italy. The sighting did not establish why he was not wearing it or what it meant for their relationship. Affleck and Lopez later divorced, with the divorce taking effect on February 21, 2025.
What was reported in June 2024?
Just Jared reported on June 24, 2024, that Affleck had lunch with his daughter Violet in Los Angeles on June 23 and appeared without his wedding ring in photographs obtained by the Daily Mail. At the time, Lopez was in Italy. The report described a photograph and the circumstances of an outing; it did not include an explanation from Affleck or Lopez about the ring. What did the nearby sightings show?
The ring detail was not consistent across nearby public appearances. Entertainment Tonight reported that Lopez was photographed on a yacht in Italy on June 20 wearing her wedding ring, and placed her trip in Positano; it also noted her visit to Paris during Paris Fashion Week. On June 26, ET reported that Affleck wore his ring after a meeting with Lopez at his office building. The couple left separately, according to the report. A ring’s presence or absence in a photograph cannot, by itself, establish why someone chose to wear or not wear it, or the state of a relationship. The nearby sightings show why the June 23 image should be treated as a visual observation rather than proof of a breakup.

What happened to Affleck and Lopez’s marriage afterward?
The couple’s later divorce is a separate, dated development; it does not reveal what the June 2024 photograph meant. The Associated Press reported on January 7, 2025, that they had reached a mediated divorce settlement and that neither requested spousal support. AP’s January 2025 settlement report
