Five pseudonymous contestants filed a proposed class action on September 16, 2024, alleging labor-law violations, unsafe and hostile working conditions, and misleading representations tied to the production of Beast Games. The complaint names three companies, not Jimmy Donaldson personally. The allegations have not been established in court.
What is the Beast Games lawsuit about?
The lawsuit is a proposed class action filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court. Its five plaintiffs, identified as Contestant 1 through Contestant 5, say they performed work on the competition show but were treated as volunteers rather than employees. The case name reported by Bloomberg Law is Contestant 1 v. MRB2024 LLC, case number 24STCV24042. Bloomberg Law reported the filing on September 16, 2024.

The complaint states: “The Contestants were not volunteers. The Contestants were promised and received compensation in exchange for their services.” That is the plaintiffs’ position, not a court finding. The complaint seeks wages and damages, workplace reforms, training, and declaratory relief.
What do the contestants allege?
Unpaid wages and missed breaks
The complaint alleges that contestants were employees under applicable labor laws despite being classified as volunteers. It claims they were not paid required minimum wages or overtime, did not receive uninterrupted meal and rest breaks, experienced delayed or inaccurate wage records and payments, and were not reimbursed for expenses. Those claims remain allegations.

Safety, care, and alleged harassment
The plaintiffs also allege inadequate food, hygiene supplies, medical care, sleep, and workplace safeguards. They say challenges posed risks of physical or mental injury. The complaint further alleges that female contestants experienced a hostile environment involving misogyny and sexual harassment. These assertions have not been established by a court.
Representations about the competition
The complaint says contestants were told there would be 1,000 competitors competing for a $5 million prize, and alleges that the contestant count was later higher. It also alleges other misrepresentations about conditions and improper efforts to obtain Nevada tax credits. The complaint records the plaintiffs’ claims; it does not establish that any representation was false or that defendants improperly obtained credits.

Who are the defendants?
The complaint names MRB2024, LLC; Off One’s Base, LLC; Amazon Alternative LLC; and Does 1–100. Although Jimmy Donaldson is associated with the production, he is not listed as an individual defendant in the complaint’s caption. The named plaintiffs are five pseudonymous contestants; the proposed class is a separate, broader group the lawsuit seeks to represent.
Has a class been certified, and can contestants claim money?
As of July 13, 2026, the secondary case-status summary from OpenClassActions reported that discovery was ongoing, no class had been certified, and no settlement or claim form existed. It also reported that MysticArt Pictures was dismissed in May 2025. This is a secondary status report, not confirmation from the current official state-court docket, which was not available in the materials reviewed.

On that reported status, there is no claim form for contestants to submit for a payout. A proposed class action does not by itself mean the court has certified a class or that all contestants are parties to the case. Check official court records for any developments after July 13, 2026.
