What did Kelly say after the interruption?
In the immediate aftermath, Kelly said he had forgotten to lock his office door. TIME’s account of the family’s response quoted him calling it “this minor mistake that turned my family into YouTube stars.” Early coverage also reported that the family felt overwhelmed by the attention. TIME’s account places those comments in the days following the 2017 broadcast, not in the 2025 anniversary update.
Why does the eight-year anniversary refer to 2025?
The interview took place in March 2017, so its eighth anniversary fell in March 2025. A later nine-year anniversary story published in September 2026 is a separate update, not the one described here. India Today’s September 2026 coverage refers to that later anniversary.
