The manga piracy site Bato.to has shut down, according to a secondary report that describes a closure announcement citing legal challenges. The report says the site and its associated Discord community were slated for deletion, but it does not establish which legal action—or whose action—led to the shutdown.
What happened to Bato.to?
A secondary report titled “Beloved Manga Site Bato.to Shuts Down After Legal Action” describes the closure as a deliberate shutdown and says the site’s announcement cited ongoing issues and resulting legal challenges. The report also says the website and its Discord community were to be deleted.
That account identifies Bato.to as the site in question. It does not independently verify the underlying legal action, so the reported explanation should be understood as the reason attributed to the announcement—not as a confirmed account of what triggered the closure.
What is known—and what remains unclear?
