Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteBaby Driver 2 has a script, according to writer-director Edgar Wright in a 2025 interview. That is not the same as a greenlight: the sources available do not establish that the sequel is in production or have a release date.
Is Baby Driver 2 happening?
Wright confirmed that a sequel script exists in a 2025 interview with The Playlist. He also stressed that whether a film gets made can depend on factors outside a filmmaker’s control, including timing, financing and people’s availability.
That confirms a script, not a production commitment. The available sources do not establish a greenlight, a production start, a cast or a release date. A May 2026 roundup by The Film Wire likewise reported no official release date or confirmed production.
Why a production listing does not confirm a finished sequel
A Production List entry, updated in April 2026, labels the project “completed.” But the same entry gives a shoot date of May 2020 and includes details that do not corroborate a current sequel. That inconsistency makes the listing unreliable evidence that Baby Driver 2 has been made or completed; it should not be treated as confirmation.

What Edgar Wright has said about the sequel
The script
Wright said in a 2021 conversation with Cary Fukunaga that he had already written a script and would need to find a way to make a sequel creatively enjoyable. That is useful background, but his 2025 interview is the newer status update: the script exists, while a production schedule remains unestablished. Interview Magazine’s conversation records the earlier comments.
Possible drivers are not confirmed plot or casting
In a BFI interview, Wright said that, if he made a sequel, he would like to expand the range of drivers in it. He was speaking hypothetically. The remark does not confirm a storyline, new characters or casting.

What is known about the original Baby Driver
Sony describes the 2017 action and suspense film as the story of Baby, played by Ansel Elgort, a getaway driver who relies on his personal soundtrack. Lily James plays the woman whose arrival gives him a chance to leave crime behind. The cast also includes Jon Bernthal, Eiza González, Jon Hamm and Jamie Foxx; Sony’s 2017 press release described Wright as the film’s writer and director.
Sony reported that the original had taken in over $100 million domestically as of its August 25, 2017 press release. That is Sony’s reported domestic figure at that date, not a current worldwide total. See Sony’s press release and official film page.
