The documented theatrical development is Disney’s promotion of the film under its Infinity Vision premium-large-format certification—not evidence of a “devastating” change to its release plan.
When does Avengers: Doomsday come out?
The date depends on the territory and source. Disney’s U.S. film page says the movie will be released exclusively in theaters on December 18, 2026. Disney UK announced a December 16, 2026, cinema release for the UK. A MeriStation report updated October 5, 2026, gives Spain’s date as December 17 and says presales were scheduled to start October 6.
| Territory | Listed date | Source and qualification |
|---|---|---|
| United States | December 18, 2026 | Disney’s official U.S. film listing; exclusive theatrical release. Disney Movies |
| United Kingdom | December 16, 2026 | Disney UK’s announcement dated July 20, 2026; cinema release. Disney UK Press |
| Spain | December 17, 2026 | MeriStation’s report, updated October 5, 2026; it also reported presales scheduled for October 6. MeriStation / AS |
These listings do not establish one universal release date. Disney’s U.S. and UK pages are official; the Spain date here is attributed to MeriStation, rather than an official Spanish Disney listing. The sources do not explain why the dates differ.
What is the “devastating theatrical move”?
The verified exhibition news is Disney’s promotion of Avengers: Doomsday with its Infinity Vision label for premium large format (PLF) cinemas. Disney UK calls Infinity Vision “a new certification for Premium Large Format (PLF) cinemas.” Disney describes the experience in terms of big screens, bright images and sound.

That makes Infinity Vision a Disney certification and brand, not proof of a new projection technology. The announcement does not establish which local theaters will participate, ticket prices, or a technical comparison with IMAX or other premium formats. Calling the move “devastating” goes beyond what the documented announcement shows: it provides no quantified harm or stated strategic motive.
