Why this is not yet the full cast
Marvel’s March 26, 2025 announcement named 27 cast members, including Downey Jr., whom it described as previously announced. That was the initial reveal, not a final cast count; later official coverage confirmed additional performers. [D23’s 2025 announcement]

- After being ensnared in a death trap, an unconventional team of antiheroes assembles and embarks on a dangerous mission. Forced to confront the darkest corners of their pasts, will the group tear themselves apart, or find redemption and prevail?
Co-director Anthony Russo said at a post-Avengers: Endgame Encore Q&A that “The cast is so large, and we’ve announced some of the cast, and we haven’t announced some of the cast.” GamesRadar+ reported the comment in September 2026. [GamesRadar+ report]
That means a performer’s absence from the first announcement—or from the lists above—is not proof that they are excluded. Treat names not confirmed by Marvel or Disney as unannounced rather than adding rumored casting to the lineup.

What is Avengers: Doomsday about?
Disney’s official setup says heroes from three distinct universes are on a collision course against an existential threat. The announced ensemble brings together Avengers, Fantastic Four, X-Men, Wakandans and other returning MCU characters. Disney has not established further plot details in the cited material, so specific theories about the threat or how the groups meet remain speculation.
