Disney+ displays “2025 • 3h 20m” on its title listing. The difference between the movie-page runtime and the streaming listing is five minutes, but the official pages do not say whether it reflects credits, a different version, or platform metadata. Neither figure should be treated as an explanation of the other.
- Official movie pages: 3 hours 15 minutes, according to Avatar.com and Disney.
- Disney+ listing: 3 hours 20 minutes, as currently displayed on the Disney+ title page.
Is Avatar 3 over three hours?
Yes. The movie-page runtime is 15 minutes beyond the three-hour mark. If you are planning a theatrical visit, allow at least 3 hours 15 minutes for the feature itself, then add time for theater advertising, finding your seat, and any other venue-specific delays. There is no official exact estimate here for the full time spent at the cinema.
#1 Best Overall
- Return to Pandora for the third chapter of Marine turned Na’vi leader Jake Sully and his family. Reeling from one death, the Sullys set out to prevent another — aided by the Wind Traders. But on the way, they’re attacked by the Ash People, who blame Eywa for their ravaged home. Warning: Some flashing-lights scenes may affect photosensitive viewers.
Why does Disney+ show a different runtime?
The official movie pages agree on 3 hours 15 minutes, while Disney+ lists 3 hours 20 minutes. The pages do not clarify why they differ. In particular, they do not establish that the extra five minutes come from credits or a changed cut, so those explanations should not be assumed.
Which film is this, and when did it open in theaters?
Avatar: Fire and Ash is the third film in the Avatar franchise, directed by James Cameron and following the Sully family on Pandora. Official materials give December 19, 2025, as the worldwide theatrical opening date. A Disney regional page lists December 18, 2025, for its territory, so the one-day difference reflects regional release dating rather than a different film. See Disney UK Press for official film information.

Where can you watch or own Fire and Ash?
Disney+ currently has an official streaming title listing for the film; availability may depend on territory. For viewers looking for a physical edition, 20th Century Studios Japan documents Blu-ray and 4K UHD availability, with a listed release date of July 15, 2026. Consult the 20th Century Studios Japan page for that release information. The listed runtime difference alone does not establish that the streaming and physical editions use different cuts.
