Audible Standard costs $8.99 per month in the US and combines one audiobook selection each month with unlimited ad-free listening from a curated catalog. The trade-off with Premium is straightforward: Standard’s monthly selection is available only while membership is active, while Premium costs $14.95 per month and includes the full unlimited listening catalog plus a monthly credit for an audiobook to keep.
What Audible Standard includes
- One audiobook selection each month: Members choose a title from Audible’s full catalog. Access to that selection lasts only while the membership remains active, according to Audible’s launch announcement.
- Unlimited ad-free listening: Standard includes a curated listening selection featuring Audible Originals and nearly 200 titles previously available on Wondery+.
Audible announced the plan on March 3, 2026. It said Standard was immediately available in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, Germany and France, with tests underway in additional marketplaces. Prices and availability outside the US depend on the local marketplace; check its current Audible membership page rather than converting the US price.
Standard and Premium compared
| Plan | US monthly price | Included listening | Monthly audiobook benefit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard | $8.99 USD per month; Audible’s US page also lists a 30-day free trial. | Unlimited ad-free listening from a curated selection. | Choose one audiobook from the full catalog each month. Access lasts while membership is active. |
| Premium | $14.95 USD per month; Audible’s US page also lists a 30-day free trial. | Unlimited listening from the full catalog. | One monthly credit for an audiobook to keep regardless of membership status. |
These are the listed US plan prices, not a guarantee of the price or offer shown to every customer: trials and promotions can change. Compare the plans by the breadth of listening included and whether you want the monthly audiobook to remain yours after membership ends.
Which plan fits your listening habits?
Standard is aimed at listeners who want one monthly selection and are content with a curated library for unlimited listening. Premium is the option Audible describes for people seeking its full included listening catalog and a monthly credit for a book they can keep regardless of membership status. The better fit depends on how much you listen and whether keeping the monthly selection after cancellation matters to you.

What Audible says about the launch
Audible Chief Financial & Growth Officer Cynthia Chu said: “The launch of our Standard plan reflects Audible’s ongoing commitment to serving the diverse preferences and listening habits of story-lovers everywhere,”
Audible also said early testing in the UK and Australia brought a “strong double digit percentage increase” in new member sign-ups compared with previous offerings. That is the company’s description of its test results, not an independently verified measure. Audible projected that expanding Standard across the launch markets would bring millions of new consumers to Audible over the next year; that figure is a company projection, not a confirmed outcome.
