What is the Attack on Titan finale movie?
The official Japanese title is 劇場版「進撃の巨人」完結編 THE LAST ATTACK, rendered in English as Attack on Titan: THE LAST ATTACK. It is a theatrical version of the anime’s ending, not a newly confirmed story continuing beyond the finale.

The official announcement describes a 145-minute feature reconstructed from the two Attack on Titan: The Final Season finale specials, broadcast in March and November 2023. The film uses refined footage and 5.1-channel surround sound to present the final battle and the conclusion of Eren and the others’ story. Director Yuichiro Hayashi said he had storyboarded it with the intention that audiences watch it as one film. The official announcement also lists Linked Horizon’s “二千年… 若しくは… 二万年後の君へ・・・” as the Japanese theme song.
When is the Attack on Titan finale movie coming out?
The movie already opened theatrically in Japan on November 8, 2024. That date was announced by the official anime site on August 17, 2024. MAPPA subsequently posted the key visual and promotional video on September 13, 2024. The original announcement and MAPPA’s September 2024 news document those announcements.

For audiences outside Japan, Crunchyroll announced on December 5, 2024, a planned early-2025 theatrical release with Sony Pictures Entertainment in Australia, Brazil, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Mexico, New Zealand, Poland, Spain, Sweden, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom and the United States, with additional select Latin American countries to be announced later. That was a dated release plan, not confirmation of what is currently screening in any location. Crunchyroll’s announcement is the source for that territory list.
What does the 2027 theatrical announcement mean?
On September 9, 2026, the official anime site announced a planned 2027 run of THE LAST ATTACK in ScreenX, 4DX and Ultra 4DX. It describes ScreenX as a three-sided projection format that extends images onto both side walls, and calls this the series’ first ScreenX screening. The update concerns special-format screenings of the existing film; it does not announce a new movie or sequel. The official 2027-format notice does not state a screening day, territory or ticket-release date.
Because local schedules are not specified in that notice, check official theater listings in your area when the 2027 schedules are published. A format announcement alone does not establish that a screening will be available near you.

If you have already watched the TV specials, the movie offers the ending in a single theatrical presentation. If you want the original broadcast structure, choose the specials instead. For the 2027 run, the deciding factor is whether a participating theater schedules one of the announced formats in your area.
