Belarusian documentary filmmaker Artsiom Lobach has begun filming a new documentary in Scandinavia and plans to continue production in Ukraine, according to an exclusive interview published by Reform.news on 9 October 2026. The project’s announced focus is a Swede and a family in Ukraine; its title and release plans have not been disclosed.
What the new documentary is about
Lobach told Reform.news that the idea began with an acquaintance living in Sweden who helps deliver cars to the front in Ukraine. But during a year spent seeking funding and writing the script, the concept changed substantially. Cars receded into the background, and the people became the focus.

As Lobach described the revised premise: “The cars remained in the background, while the focus shifted to people: the main characters in the film are a Swede, whom we are filming now, and a family in Ukraine.” The interview does not identify the people or explain what the film will show about their lives.
Where filming stands
Filming had begun in Scandinavia, with Ukraine planned as the next stage, the 9 October report said. Lobach characterized the project as still evolving and kept further plot details private. The announcement therefore describes a production in progress, not a completed film or a finalized synopsis.
