What happened at the Encino home
After a caller requested a welfare check because the couple had not been heard from for several days, officers went to their Encino home on July 14, 2025, and found Robin Kaye and Thomas Deluca dead from gunshot wounds. LAPD confirmed the arrest of 22-year-old Raymond Boodarian in connection with their deaths, according to Yahoo News, reporting on July 16, 2025.

What prosecutors allege and what charges were filed
In its July 17, 2025 announcement, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office alleged that Boodarian entered the home on or about July 10 and shot Kaye and Deluca when they returned. Prosecutors filed two counts of murder and one count of first-degree residential burglary, with special-circumstance allegations of multiple murders and murder during a burglary. These are allegations, not findings by a court. The DA’s office states that Boodarian is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
The DA announcement said that, if convicted as charged, Boodarian could face life without parole or the death penalty. That was the possible penalty stated in the 2025 announcement, not a prediction of the outcome.

Who were Robin Kaye and Thomas Deluca?
Kaye was an American Idol music supervisor and a member of the show’s team. A spokesperson for the program, quoted by Yahoo News, said: “Robin has been a cornerstone of the Idol family since 2009 and was truly loved and respected by all who came into contact with her.” The spokesperson also offered condolences to the families and friends of Kaye and her husband, Tom.

Charges and expected arraignment
The DA announced the charges on July 17, 2025, and said an arraignment was expected on August 20. The announcement identified the case as Los Angeles Superior Court case 25VWCF01126.

Competency evaluation
An Associated Press report dated August 20, 2025, said a judge suspended criminal proceedings while a psychiatrist evaluated Boodarian’s competency. The report said the judge would consider whether he could proceed toward trial or should be placed in a state hospital. That is the latest case-specific procedural development established by the sources cited here; it does not confirm what happened after the evaluation.
