He reported that he was doing well and said the device would not stop him from filming season two of FUBAR as planned. These are statements he made in 2024, not a current health update.
What Schwarzenegger said about the pacemaker
In a March 25, 2024 episode of his podcast and newsletter, Arnold’s Pump Club, Schwarzenegger disclosed that he had undergone pacemaker surgery the previous Monday. He was 76 at the time. As quoted by CBS News, he said: “Last Monday, I had surgery for a pacemaker and became a little bit more of a machine.” He also said he was doing well.
Schwarzenegger attributed the decision to an irregular heartbeat that he said had developed after scar tissue from earlier heart operations. He said the irregularity had been present for a few years and that he stayed in contact with his doctors, including by sharing heart-rate information from home. This describes his account of his own care; it does not establish what treatment another person might need.
His recovery and filming plans at the time
Schwarzenegger said he attended an environmental event with Jane Fonda on the Friday after his Monday procedure. He added that he was not yet able to do serious gym training. His remarks were reported by ABC News Australia.

In a follow-up published March 29, 2024, he responded to concerns about filming FUBAR season two. He said the pacemaker would not interfere and that he expected to be ready to film in April. “Absolutely not. I will be ready to film in April, and you can only see it if you’re really looking for it,” he wrote in a post reproduced by Rolling Stone via Yahoo Entertainment. That was his plan then; it is not confirmation of the show’s production status now.
What was reported about his heart history
Contemporary coverage said Schwarzenegger was born with a bicuspid aortic valve, a congenital condition, and reported valve surgeries in 1997, 2018 and 2020. The reports connected the later irregular heartbeat to scar tissue from earlier operations, as Schwarzenegger described it. ABC News Australia explains that a pacemaker is an implanted device that uses electrical impulses to help maintain a normal heart rhythm. His individual diagnosis and treatment should not be taken as guidance for anyone else.

What this update does—and does not—tell us
The March 2024 accounts report Schwarzenegger’s own statements about his procedure, recovery and filming plans. They do not establish his health or pacemaker status in October 2026. His public comments at the time indicated that he was recovering well and expected to return to work, but they should not be recast as a current medical update.
