Ariana Grande’s “I’ll see you in jail” warning came in a February 2024 interview about studio sessions circulating on TikTok. A separate story emerged in July 2026, when reports said she had sued unidentified defendants over the alleged theft and leaking of unreleased material. The lawsuit’s claims are allegations, not findings of fact, and the available reports do not establish that the two episodes involved the same files or people.
What Grande meant by “I’ll see you in jail”
In a February 2024 interview with Zach Sang, Grande addressed studio sessions that were circulating on TikTok. Global News quoted her saying: “Before I left for Wicked, a few studio sessions that I did, which are all over TikTok — thank you so much, I’ll see you in jail. Literally.” Global News reported the remark in its July 28, 2026 coverage of the later lawsuit.
The line was a warning aimed at whoever was responsible for the circulating sessions. It was not a report that anyone had been arrested or convicted.
What Grande said about “Fantasize”
In the same interview, Grande discussed “Fantasize,” describing it as material not intended for her own release. EWN quoted her: “That wasn’t my song, it wasn’t for me… It was like a parody of this girl group vibe.” Her description is her account of the song’s context; it does not establish how or by whom the recording was distributed. EWN’s February 28, 2024 report identified “Fantasize” as the subject of that discussion.

What the 2026 lawsuit reportedly alleges
In reports published July 27 and 28, 2026, TheWrap and Global News said Grande had filed a lawsuit in California against unidentified defendants. The reporting described allegations that the defendants accessed digital accounts or devices associated with her collaborators and took unreleased creative material. These claims have not been established by a judgment in the sources available here. TheWrap reported that the defendants were identified as John Does.
Pitchfork reported that the complaint alleged 45 unreleased songs were stolen and leaked in 2023. That figure is the complaint’s alleged count, not an independently confirmed total. Pitchfork’s July 28, 2026 report attributes the number to the filing.
