Did Mitchell choose Sydney on Farmer Wants a Wife?
Yes. Mitchell chose Sydney at the end of Season 2, making them one of the couples who left the show together. During the season, he praised her initiative on the farm. In a February 2024 interview with Parade, Mitchell said, “Sydney’s not scared to jump in and take charge of the girls on the farm for certain tasks, or [to] sort of take lead.”

FOX announced the season on December 14, 2023, naming Mitchell among its four farmers and setting a February 1, 2024 premiere. The show brings single women to experience life in the country alongside the farmers, according to FOX’s announcement.
What happened after the finale?
Mitchell and Sydney were still a couple at the May 2024 reunion. A later FOX couple recap also documented their story after the season. In spring 2025, Sydney moved from New Jersey to Tennessee to live with Mitchell, according to TV Insider/Swooon.

When did Mitchell and Sydney break up?
They broke up before the 2025 holidays. Sydney confirmed the split in a TikTok statement on February 24, 2026, as reported by TV Insider/Swooon the following day. The report says she moved back to New Jersey after the breakup and later returned to Nashville independently. The exact date they separated has not been established.
Sydney said, “I can confidently say that Mitchell and I gave our relationship 110%, more than I’ve ever given anything in my life.” She also said they were “on good terms,” remained friendly, and still had love for one another. Those remarks describe their relationship after the breakup, not a plan to get back together.

Why did they break up?
Sydney confirmed that the relationship ended, but the reports do not establish a detailed reason from either of them. Us Weekly’s June 10, 2026 status roundup also reported the split and described their relationship as lasting about two years. Speculation about the cause should not be treated as confirmed.
