The more defensible answer is that their cultural prominence may be changing, but a debate about fading star power is not the same as a measured decline. Kim’s continued business visibility, including SKIMS’ growth, also cannot by itself tell us how much public attention she receives.
Why are people asking whether the Kardashians are less famous?
The question reflects a shift in how celebrity is discussed: a family once treated as a defining fixture of reality television and popular culture is now sometimes framed as less central. A January 2026 South China Morning Post feature asks whether Kim Kardashian’s star power is fading while noting SKIMS’ continued growth. The framing captures a real public debate, but it does not establish that attention has fallen by a measured amount.

“Fame” can mean several different things: how many people watch a show, how often a celebrity appears in news coverage, how many people search for them, how engaged their social audiences are, or how recognizable they remain across age groups. These measures can move in different directions. Without a consistent time series for each sister and each measure, it is not possible to give a reliable single verdict or a percentage decline.
Does SKIMS’ growth mean Kim Kardashian’s fame is still growing?
No. Company performance and personal celebrity attention are related but distinct. The SCMP’s juxtaposition of Kim’s star power with SKIMS’ growth is useful precisely because it highlights two different questions: how a business is performing and how much cultural attention its founder commands. A successful brand can remain commercially visible even if the founder is less central to everyday conversation; conversely, celebrity interest does not automatically translate into sales.

TIME’s April 2022 analysis described Keeping Up with the Kardashians as a marketing opportunity for the family’s brands and argued that accumulated fame and success could complicate the family’s earlier relatability. That is historical cultural analysis, not a current report on the sisters’ ratings or audience size.
What shows that the family still has a television presence?
The family continued on television after the era of its original series. ABC’s series information reported that season 6 of The Kardashians premiered on February 6, 2025, and was streaming on Hulu when that page was published. This shows that the franchise retained a television platform at that point; it does not establish current viewing figures, the show’s present regional availability, or how many people are watching.
Because streaming catalogs and availability can vary by region and change over time, check the current Hulu or local service listing before relying on where the series can be watched now.
How can a change in Kardashian fame be measured?
A sound claim about declining prominence would compare like with like over time, rather than combine unrelated indicators into one score. Useful measures would include:
Rank #3
- Factory sealed DVD
- Audience reach: comparable ratings or viewership figures for the same series and distribution context.
- Public attention: consistent search-interest or earned-media data, interpreted with care because neither alone measures recognition.
- Social engagement: platform-specific changes in followers and interaction, not follower totals alone.
- Business performance: sales or other company indicators, kept separate from personal fame.
- Cultural relevance: representative research across age groups, rather than anecdotal impressions about younger audiences.
The available reporting does not supply a consistent longitudinal dataset across these measures for Kim, Kourtney, Khloé, Kendall, and Kylie. Commentary about younger audiences should therefore be understood as opinion unless supported by demographic research.

Whether or not the family is as culturally central as it once was, its role in the development of contemporary celebrity remains a subject of analysis. A May 2026 Atlantic cultural essay, “The Kardashians Explain It All,” considers the family as a way to examine modern media and celebrity culture, including MJ Corey’s book on the subject. That kind of significance is not the same as current popularity: a figure can remain historically influential even as public attention shifts.
The family’s trajectory is therefore better understood as a changing media presence than as a simple rise-or-fall story. Television, social platforms, news coverage, and businesses have all contributed to its visibility, and each would need its own evidence to show whether attention is waning.
