Are Elon Musk and Grimes flirting again?
There is no verified recent exchange in the reporting reviewed here that can fairly be described as flirting between Grimes and Musk. The available accounts document public comments about co-parenting, privacy and screen time, but they do not establish that the former couple are dating again.
That distinction matters because speculation can turn ordinary contact between co-parents—or an unrelated change in someone’s other relationship—into a claim of renewed romance. Neither is proof.
What recent reports say about their relationship
Co-parenting, not courtship
In December 2025, The Independent reported Grimes’s claim that Musk had blocked her on X. Grimes said her priority was co-parenting and that she was not interested in public dramatics: “My only priority is co parenting, i am not interested in public dramatics. This is so silly lol.” The comment describes her stated focus at the time; it does not suggest a romantic reunion. The Independent, December 15, 2025.

Children’s privacy and screen time
In January 2026, reports covered Grimes’s comments about disagreements with Musk over their children’s privacy and screen time. In one post, she wrote: “Huge debate cuz the other parent is fine w it but it’s fairly avoided.” The exchange is about parenting choices, not evidence of flirtation. The Independent, January 24, 2026; The Daily Beast, January 23, 2026.
The Zilis report is separate
On October 2, 2026, The Daily Beast reported that Shivon Zilis had announced a breakup with Musk. That report concerns Zilis and Musk; it does not report a flirtatious exchange with Grimes or link the breakup to a reunion between the former couple. The Daily Beast, October 2, 2026.

What happened between Grimes and Musk?
The Daily Beast and The Independent report that Grimes and Musk began dating in 2018. Their relationship was on and off and ended in 2022. They have three children together: X Æ A-Xii, Exa Dark Sideræl and Techno Mechanicus. The Daily Beast, July 7, 2025; The Independent, January 24, 2026.
Grimes’s March 10, 2022 post, reproduced by The Daily Beast, captured the on-and-off nature of the relationship at that point: “Me and E have broken up again since the writing of this article haha, but he’s my best friend and the love of my life, and my life and art are forever dedicated to The Mission now, I think Devin wrote that part of the story rly well.” That is a historical statement from 2022, not evidence of her current feelings. A recent, authenticated public exchange or an on-record statement from Grimes or Musk that clearly supports the claim would be relevant. Co-parenting contact, old affectionate remarks, following or unfollowing activity, or news about Musk’s relationship with someone else does not establish that the two have resumed a romance. The reviewed reports do not settle whether some unindexed or newer exchange exists; they simply do not document one.
