Arcadian is a 2024 survival horror thriller about a father and his twin sons trying to stay alive after civilization collapses. Nicolas Cage plays Paul, who leaves the safety of the family’s fortified home to search for one of his sons as night approaches. The film’s trailer listings are available from Hulu, Disney+, and Apple TV; those pages are destinations to check, not a guarantee of current availability in every country.
What is Arcadian about?
Set in a devastated near-future world, Arcadian follows Paul and his twin sons, Thomas and Joseph, as they survive in a fortified home. Mysterious creatures threaten them after dark. When Thomas does not return before sundown, Paul ventures away from the relative safety of the farm to find him. The encounter leaves Paul gravely wounded, and the boys must work out how to survive.
The film is directed by Benjamin Brewer and written by Mike Nilon. Its principal cast includes Nicolas Cage as Paul, Jaeden Martell and Maxwell Jenkins as his sons, and Sadie Soverall. The official synopsis is available from RLJE Films.
Who are the monsters in Arcadian?
The British Board of Film Classification describes the creatures as large, nocturnal, living underground, and traveling in packs. That establishes the threat’s broad characteristics, but not its origin or biology. The available official descriptions do not explain where the creatures came from, so claims about their history or motives should be treated as speculation. See the BBFC classification.
