The “love triangle” label took hold because Fizz was Omarion’s B2K bandmate and Jones is the mother of Omarion’s children—not because the cited coverage establishes that the romances overlapped.
What happened, in chronological order
2014–2016: Jones and Omarion
Complex’s 2026 retrospective places Apryl Jones and Omarion’s relationship in 2014–2016. That is the reported chronology; it does not establish every private detail of their relationship or breakup. Complex’s retrospective
2019: Jones and Lil’ Fizz
Complex reports that Jones and Lil’ Fizz dated for about a year beginning in 2019. Their relationship attracted particular scrutiny because Fizz and Omarion had been bandmates in B2K, while Jones and Omarion share children. The chronology in that retrospective places this relationship after Jones and Omarion’s, rather than showing the two relationships overlapping.
November 2019: Jones discusses the breakup
In a November 2019 conversation with Nick Cannon at Power 106, Jones addressed public discussion of her relationships and described her breakup with Omarion as difficult. The station’s write-up presents her account; it is not an independent record of what happened between the former couple. Power 106’s write-up of Jones’s interview

February 2020: Omarion’s account of learning about the relationship
In an interview with Big Boy, Omarion addressed how he learned that Jones and Fizz were involved and whether he would speak with Fizz. Power 105.1 summarized the interview rather than publishing a full transcript, so its page should be read as an outlet’s account of the conversation, not as a verbatim record of every answer. October 2021: Fizz apologizes
BET published a clip of Fizz apologizing to Omarion. Fizz said, “I want to sit here humbly and sincerely apologize to you for any turmoil or dysfunction I caused between you and your family.” The apology is a public statement by Fizz; it does not, by itself, establish how each person privately experienced the events. 2026: Reconciliation enters the story
In July 2026, Complex reported Omarion saying that he and Fizz had moved past the earlier tension. Omarion described forgiveness as important to releasing negative energy. In March 2026, the Associated Press also described the former bandmates as having repaired their friendship in the context of B2K’s reunion-era activity. Those later accounts shift the story from the original controversy toward a reported reconciliation. Complex on Omarion and Fizz · Associated Press on B2K’s reunion-tour context
Why the story was called a “love triangle”
The phrase compresses a complicated history into a dramatic label. The documented connection is that Jones had previously been with Omarion, then was reported to be dating Fizz, Omarion’s former B2K bandmate. That combination made the story feel connected to both a former romantic relationship and a group friendship. But the chronology reported by Complex places the relationships in separate periods, and the available accounts do not establish an overlap.

It is also important to separate public fact from interpretation. Interviews and entertainment coverage document what the three people said publicly and how outlets described events. They do not verify private motives, conversations, or every detail of the relationships. The label “love triangle” is therefore best understood as a shorthand for the public controversy, not a proven description of simultaneous relationships.

Omarion

Lil’ Fizz
Fizz made a direct public apology to Omarion in the BET clip published in October 2021. In AP’s March 2026 reporting, Fizz also said, “It had to start with me and the mistakes that I had to own up to,” and described the group as having taken time “to heal and work, to grow, to get to this mature space.” Those remarks place his apology within a wider account of repairing B2K relationships.

From relationship controversy to B2K’s reunion era
The later reconciliation reports are tied to the group’s history as well as the relationship story. AP’s March 2026 report placed B2K in a reunion-tour context and described the former bandmates as having repaired their friendship. It reported that the Boys 4 Life Tour would visit 28 cities; that number refers to the tour, not to the relationships or the public response to them. Tour schedules can change, so the AP report is a dated snapshot rather than a guarantee of current dates or status.
AP also quoted Omarion saying, “I hope people really get that message because brotherhood can be difficult — or it can be a beautiful thing.” His comment frames the reconciliation as a message about the bandmates’ relationship, not as a definitive account of Jones’s private life or the full history of the breakup.
