Yes. Apple’s F1 The Movie passed $500 million in worldwide theatrical ticket sales in late July 2025. A July 27 report put its running gross at about $509 million: roughly $165 million in the United States and $344 million internationally. That was a dated estimate, not the film’s final total.
When did F1 The Movie pass $500 million?
The milestone was reported on July 27, 2025, about a month after the film’s theatrical opening. 9to5Mac’s contemporaneous estimate put the worldwide gross at approximately $509 million, including about $165 million from the United States and $344 million from international markets. Box-office totals can be revised, so these figures describe the report at that time rather than a final accounting.
The film opened internationally beginning June 25, 2025, and nationwide in the United States on June 27, according to the official film site. The Associated Press reported an opening weekend of $55.6 million in North America and $144 million worldwide, citing studio estimates.
How did the total change after the milestone?
The $500 million headline captures one point in the film’s theatrical run. Later reported figures show the total continuing to rise:

What the $500 million figure does—and does not—mean
Worldwide box-office gross is the total value of reported ticket sales across markets. It is not the amount Apple received, and it does not deduct exhibitors’ shares, distribution arrangements, production costs, or marketing costs. The Associated Press reported a production budget of more than $200 million at the time of the film’s opening, but the sources available do not establish the full costs, theatrical rentals, distribution terms, or value from streaming. The gross alone therefore cannot establish whether the film was profitable for Apple.
F1 The Movie is an Apple Original Film, with Warner Bros. handling worldwide theatrical distribution. The film’s scale is a notable theatrical result for Apple, but a box-office milestone should not be treated as a statement of the company’s return on investment.

How much came from IMAX?
IMAX was a significant part of the film’s theatrical performance, though the available figures do not show that it alone drove the overall result. IMAX Corporation reported a $28 million global IMAX opening weekend and said its network accounted for more than 19% of the film’s global debut gross. Apple later reported that IMAX represented 23% of the North American opening weekend and more than 19% of the global debut; its August 2025 rerelease announcement said IMAX had generated more than $85 million in gross by then. These are company-reported figures, not a breakdown of Apple’s receipts.
Apple’s August announcement also said the film had recently exceeded $552 million worldwide and described an IMAX rerelease. The successive totals help put the July milestone in context: the reported gross continued to grow after the film passed $500 million.

Was it the highest-grossing sports movie?
Apple described F1 The Movie as its highest-grossing theatrical film and, at the time of its October 2025 announcement, the highest-grossing sports film. Formula 1’s 2025 half-year review likewise said the film had passed $600 million and surpassed Cars 2, whose gross it listed as $559 million. These are attributed, time-specific record claims; rankings can change as new films are released.
