The Apple TV sci-fi thriller Dark Matter is back for a 10-episode second season. It premiered August 28, 2026, and Apple’s announced schedule runs weekly on Fridays through October 30. The season follows the Dessens as they try to find safety amid new danger and the multiverse’s mysteries.
What is Dark Matter season 2 about?
Dark Matter is a science-fiction thriller adapted from Blake Crouch’s novel. Crouch created the television series and serves as its showrunner. In season two, the Dessen family tries to settle into a safer life, but new danger forces them to flee. Apple’s synopsis also points to Jason’s fixation on the Box, Daniela’s growing paranoia, and Amanda and Ryan’s effort to find their way home. The new season continues the story beyond the original novel rather than simply adapting the book’s full plot.
When does Dark Matter season 2 come out?
The season premiered globally on August 28, 2026. Apple announced ten episodes, released one each Friday through October 30. As of October 8, the weekly run is underway; Apple’s stated schedule puts the finale on October 30. Apple reiterated the schedule in its July 25, 2026 trailer announcement.
Who is in the cast?
Joel Edgerton and Jennifer Connelly lead the series and also executive produce. Apple lists returning cast members Alice Braga, Jimmi Simpson, Dayo Okeniyi, Oakes Fegley, and Amanda Brugel. Blake Crouch is the author of the source novel and the series’ creator and showrunner.
