Apple TV+ is no longer merely “coming” to Android. Apple released the Apple TV app for Android phones, tablets, and foldables on February 12, 2025. You can install it from Google Play, subscribe through Google Play billing, stream Apple Originals, and download supported programs for offline viewing. Google TV access is a separate device category with its own compatibility and regional limits.
What arrived on Android
Apple’s current consumer branding generally uses Apple TV, although many viewers still call the subscription Apple TV+. The February 12, 2025 launch put the official Apple TV app on Google Play for Android mobile devices, including phones, tablets, and foldables. Apple’s announcement is available at Apple Newsroom.
This is not the same product as an Apple TV 4K streaming box. Apple TV is the subscription and service, the Apple TV app is the software interface, and Apple TV 4K is separate hardware. An existing compatible Android device is enough for the main use case.
Which Android devices work?

Apple does not establish one universal minimum Android version in the cited support material, so check Google Play’s compatibility result for your specific device.

What can you watch?
The Android app provides access to Apple Original series and films, documentaries, and children’s programming. Depending on your country or region and your subscription, it may also offer Friday Night Baseball, MLS content, and Formula 1 in the United States. Sports rights and the catalog vary geographically; consult Apple’s Android viewing guide.
Core Android features include streaming over Wi-Fi or cellular data, Continue Watching, Watchlist, personalized recommendations, cross-device continuation with the same account, and downloads for offline viewing. These documented features should not be treated as proof that every iPhone, iPad, Mac, or Apple TV hardware feature is replicated on Android. See Apple’s feature overview.

How to install Apple TV on an Android phone or tablet
- Open the Google Play Store.
- Search for Apple TV, rather than relying only on the older “Apple TV+” name.
- Confirm that Apple is listed as the publisher.
- Install or update the app.
- Open it and sign in with an Apple Account, or start a subscription.
- Choose the Apple TV tab inside the app.
If the app is unavailable, try tv.apple.com in a browser. The website is a practical fallback, while the native app is preferable when you need downloads and an Android interface.

- Open the Apple TV app.
- Tap Apple TV at the bottom of the screen.
- Tap the subscription or free-trial button.
- Review the offer and billing details shown by Google Play.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to complete payment.
Apple’s Android instructions are in its subscription guide. Apple announced a seven-day trial for eligible subscribers, but eligibility and promotional terms can change, so treat it as an offer rather than a guaranteed benefit for every account.

How to cancel an Android-billed subscription
- Open the Apple TV app and tap the account icon in the upper-right corner.
- Open Account Settings.
- Tap Manage Subscriptions.
- Complete the cancellation or plan change in Google Play.
This path applies when Google Play billed you. A subscription purchased through Apple or another provider must be managed with that original billing provider. Check both Apple Account and Google Play subscriptions before starting another trial to avoid duplicate charges.
Price and what the subscription includes
Apple’s U.S. offer page listed Apple TV at $12.99 per month when checked on August 18, 2026. Taxes, regional pricing, promotions, and billing-channel terms can differ. The U.S. page is Apple’s service page.

The subscription does not automatically unlock everything displayed in the Apple TV app. Third-party services, channels, rentals, purchases, and some sports products may require separate payment or a different subscription. A title can appear in the interface without being included in your plan.
Why a title may not play
- No active subscription: the program requires an Apple TV plan.
- Separate transaction: it is a rental, purchase, or third-party channel item.
- Regional restriction: the title or sports package is unavailable in your country.
- Pre-release listing: it can be added to a Watchlist before its release date.

When the app is missing from Google Play
- Search for Apple TV, not only “Apple TV Plus.”
- Check whether Google Play marks the device as compatible.
- Update Google Play services and the device software.
- Confirm that your country or region supports the relevant Apple TV service.
- Try tv.apple.com in a browser.
Device certification, platform differences, and regional availability can all affect what Google Play shows.
Bottom line for Android users
The “could be coming” premise is obsolete: Apple TV reached Android mobile devices on February 12, 2025. Android users can watch Apple Originals without buying Apple hardware, with downloads and standard account features available in the app. It is most compelling if you specifically want Apple’s exclusive catalog or sports offered in your territory; it is not a single subscription that includes every service, title, or sport shown inside the Apple TV app.
