Apple Music Replay ’22 was officially released on November 29, 2022, but some subscribers reported a blank page, an endless loading spinner, missing 2022 results, stale playlists, or incorrect statistics. Those reports were real, yet Apple never publicly confirmed one universal Replay ’22 bug. The failure could involve eligibility, listening-history settings, the Apple Account in use, browser compatibility, delayed processing, or an Apple service problem.
This guide separates those symptoms and gives you the safest diagnostic order. Apple’s original announcement is at Apple Newsroom.
What Apple Music Replay ’22 was
Replay ’22 was more than a playlist. Apple’s redesigned experience combined top songs, artists, albums and genres with listening time, additional insights, Replay playlists and an animated highlight reel. The richer presentation was primarily web-based at replay.music.apple.com; the Music app could still expose or play the playlist.
Apple said subscribers could continue checking their 2022 results through December 31, 2022. The launch covered 169 countries and regions and 39 languages, according to Apple’s announcement. Contemporary descriptions of the redesign are also available from MacRumors and 9to5Mac.

First, identify the failure
- Missing: Replay says you have not listened enough, or 2022 does not appear.
- Stuck loading: the Replay logo or spinner never finishes.
- Partly working: the playlist or text statistics load, but the animated reel is blank.
- Not updating: new listening does not change the playlist or figures.
- Incorrect: minutes, songs, artists or albums do not match your experience.
- Year mismatch: another Replay year appears, but 2022 does not.
Apple Support Community and Reddit reports describe each of these categories, including data stopping partway through the year and pages that remained blank or perpetually loading: thread 254601965, thread 254426121, thread 254422408, thread 254809259, Reddit report 1 and Reddit report 2. These accounts establish user-facing failures, not a single Apple-confirmed cause.
1. Check Apple’s service status
Open Apple System Status and look for an Apple Music incident. If Apple Music itself is unavailable, Replay may fail as well. A current green status cannot prove that no outage occurred in November or December 2022, however, and no dated Apple statement here confirms a universal Replay ’22 outage.
2. Confirm the Apple Account
Replay must be opened with the same Apple Account associated with the Apple Music subscription. A browser signed into another account can look empty or ineligible even when the correct account has extensive listening history.
- Check the account shown in the Apple Music app.
- Open replay.music.apple.com.
- Sign out if the displayed account is wrong, then sign in with the subscription account.
- If you use Family Sharing, sign in as the individual member whose listening history you are checking; the organizer’s account is not interchangeable with every member’s account.
3. Turn on Use Listening History
Apple identifies enabled listening history and sufficient activity as the main prerequisites for Replay. Its current instructions, published May 28, 2026, use these paths:

- iPhone or iPad: Settings > Apps > Music > Use Listening History.
- Mac: Music app > Music > Settings > General > Use Listening History.
- Android: Apple Music > More/Menu > Settings > Use Listening History.
See Apple’s instructions at Apple Support. On older iOS versions used in 2022, the iPhone and iPad control was generally under Settings > Music rather than Settings > Apps > Music.
Enable the option on every device used for Apple Music. Turning it on now should permit future activity to be recorded, but Apple does not promise that missing historical events will be reconstructed.
4. Check eligibility without guessing a magic number
Replay used a progress indicator and required sufficient listening activity before generating a playlist and insights. Apple has not published one universal number of songs, hours or days that guarantees eligibility. Listening every day therefore does not prove that the relevant history was recorded for Replay.
If the page says “listen to more music,” verify the account and history setting first, then allow time for processing. A subscriber with substantial listening history should treat the message as a possible account, data or processing problem rather than automatically assuming they simply need more plays. 5. Update software and isolate browser problems
These are sensible connectivity and compatibility checks, not Replay-specific fixes Apple guaranteed:
- Update iOS, iPadOS, macOS, Android and the Apple Music app where applicable.
- Update your browser, then open the Replay address directly rather than through an old bookmark.
- Try a private or incognito window to bypass stale cookies and extensions.
- Temporarily disable content or script blockers, restrictive privacy extensions and a VPN for the test; restore them afterward.
- Try another browser, device and network, such as cellular data instead of Wi-Fi.
- Allow JavaScript, cookies and media playback.
- Sign out of Apple services, sign back in and restart the device.
Apple’s general connectivity guidance recommends updating software and trying another network: Apple Support article 108093. Some users reported improvement with private browsing or another browser, but those observations are anecdotal: Reddit report 3 and Reddit report 4.
If the loading screen never finishes
Open the page in another browser and look below the animated presentation. If statistics or the playlist load while only the highlight reel is blank, the likely problem is the web presentation or media playback rather than absent Replay data. If every section fails across browsers, devices and networks, account, service or server-side processing becomes more plausible.

If Replay is not updating
Replay processing was not guaranteed to be instantaneous. The playlist and detailed statistics could update at different times, and a short period without a ranking change can look frozen. Reports also describe top songs changing while minutes, artists or albums remained stale, or recommendations updating while Replay data did not (Apple Support Community report).
- Confirm Use Listening History on each listening device.
- Confirm that all devices use the same Apple Account.
- Wait for processing, then compare the playlist with the web statistics.
- Check whether new listening would actually change the ranking; repeated plays may not alter a top list immediately.
Do not promise a real-time or exact refresh interval. Apple’s 2022 announcement said users could keep checking through December 31, while later Replay descriptions referred to weekly insights.
If the statistics are wrong
Incorrect figures are different from a page that will not load. Recheck account identity and listening history, then compare songs, minutes, artists and albums across the playlist and web view. Apple calculates Replay from recorded listening activity, play counts and listening time; it does not provide a user-facing tool to edit or manually rebuild the totals.

When to contact Apple Support
Escalate when all of the following are true:
- Use Listening History was enabled on every listening device.
- The Replay website uses the Apple Account tied to the subscription.
- Multiple browsers, devices and networks fail in the same way.
- Replay remains missing or materially inaccurate after allowing time for processing.
- Other Apple Music features work, but Replay alone does not.
Provide the affected account, devices, operating-system versions, exact symptom and the checks you already completed. That gives Support a better chance of distinguishing a session problem from server-side data loss.
Can you still access Replay ’22?
Separate the saved playlist from the original interactive year-end presentation. A Replay playlist may remain in the Music app even when the 2022 highlight reel or historical web page is no longer maintained. In 2026, Apple’s current access route is Music app > Home > Replay: Your Top Music, or replay.music.apple.com, but Apple does not guarantee that the original 2022 animation can still be reproduced.
The Bottom Line
Replay ’22 was a genuine Apple feature launched on November 29, 2022, and genuine user reports show that it sometimes failed to load, appear, update or calculate correctly. Start with System Status, the correct Apple Account and Use Listening History, then isolate browser, device and network issues. If every check passes and the data is still missing or wrong, the remaining problem is likely Apple-side processing or historical availability and requires Apple Support.
