Apple’s Apple Immersive Video project has grown from a July 2024 launch announcement into a developing catalog of scripted films, concerts, travel and wildlife series, partner documentaries, and event-specific sports. The format is built for Apple Vision Pro: Apple describes 180-degree, 3D video captured at up to 8K with Spatial Audio. By August 2026, the lineup includes released experiences such as Submerged, Metallica, The Weeknd: Open Hearts, VIP: Yankee Stadium and Tour De Force, while newer partner projects and regional live sports remain subject to release schedules and access restrictions.
What Apple Immersive Video is
Apple Immersive Video is not a conventional 3D movie, a 360-degree video, or a normal 2D broadcast placed on a giant virtual screen. Apple designed it for Vision Pro with a 180-degree field of view, stereoscopic 3D, very high-resolution capture (the original announcement cited 8K) and Spatial Audio. The camera position is close to the performers, athletes, animals or landscapes, creating a sense of presence rather than simply enlarging a flat image.
Most titles are surfaced in the Apple TV app on Vision Pro. They are distinct from ordinary Apple TV+ films and series, from spatial videos recorded on an iPhone, and from standard 3D films rented or streamed through the headset. The newer sports productions also show that “immersive” can describe an event-specific live or near-live presentation, not only a prerecorded short.
Apple first outlined the format on July 18, 2024, in its original Immersive Video announcement.

The original 2024 slate—and what happened next
The launch plan introduced several strands rather than one conventional series. Adventure followed athletes attempting extreme challenges; Boundless visited remarkable destinations; Wild Life focused on animals and conservation; and Elevated used aerial viewpoints to show cities and landscapes. Apple also announced a planned music experience with The Weeknd, the scripted short Submerged, NBA All-Star Weekend material and Red Bull big-wave surfing.
That list was a roadmap, not a permanent “upcoming releases” page. Some projects have since arrived, while others have been renamed, expanded into episodes or left without a publicly confirmed date. Apple’s Vision Pro newsroom index and archive are more useful for dating announcements than the 2024 article alone.

Released or specifically announced titles
The table separates titles Apple has identified as available from projects announced with a date, season or no firm launch confirmation. “Available” means Apple explicitly said the title was on Vision Pro in the cited announcement; availability can still vary by country.

Apple’s shift toward outside partners
The September 22, 2025 preview marked a strategic change. Apple Immersive was no longer presented only as an Apple-produced showcase: CANAL+, MotoGP, the BBC, CNN, HYBE, Audi, Red Bull, PHORIA and The Explorers were all named as participants. Apple also said some newer films were among the first captured with Blackmagic Design’s URSA Cine Immersive camera and edited in DaVinci Resolve Studio.

This partner model could produce more specialist travel, music, motorsport and documentary programming than Apple could make alone. It also makes the catalog harder to summarize: creators may control launch timing, apps, territories and subscriptions, while Apple’s newsroom pages often describe a window such as “spring 2026” rather than a guaranteed worldwide premiere.
Live sports: Spectrum Front Row
Spectrum Front Row is the clearest move from short prerecorded pieces toward event-specific live production. Selected Los Angeles Lakers games began appearing in Apple Immersive on January 9, 2026. The presentation offers multiple camera positions and 3D graphics rather than simply showing a conventional broadcast on a virtual screen.

- Hardware and software: Apple says it supports both M2 and M5 Vision Pro models running visionOS 26 or later.
- Live-game geography: Access is limited to the Lakers’ regional broadcast territory, including Southern California, Hawaii and parts of southern Nevada.
- Apps: Viewers use the Spectrum SportsNet app or the NBA app, depending on the offering.
- Authentication: Spectrum SportsNet access requires a qualifying Spectrum subscription or video package. The NBA app can require an NBA ID; conventional NBA broadcasts may require NBA League Pass.
- Replays: Full-game replays and highlights may be offered more broadly, but market restrictions still apply.
Apple’s launch details are in its January 2026 Spectrum Front Row announcement. This is not a universal live-sports package: it is a geographically limited Lakers production with app and subscription requirements.

- Put on Apple Vision Pro and update visionOS when a title or partner app requires it.
- Open the Apple TV app for Apple-produced Immersive films and series.
- Search for the title or browse the Apple Immersive Video area, then stream or download where the app provides those controls.
- For partner sports, install or open the specified app—such as Spectrum SportsNet or NBA—and complete its sign-in or subscription steps.
Apple says new Immersive films and episodes debut in U.S. English with subtitles in additional languages, but title availability varies by country or region. In mainland China, Apple has said selected titles are accessed through Migu Video and Tencent Video rather than the same Apple TV arrangement used in other markets. Do not assume that a title listed in a U.S. newsroom announcement is available worldwide.

What does Apple Immersive Video cost?
There are three separate cost questions:
- Headset: Apple’s January 2026 announcement gives the M5 Vision Pro a U.S. starting price of $3,499. That is the cost of entry before accessories, prescription lenses or services. Apple offers in-store demos, which are sensible before purchase because fit, weight and motion comfort vary by person.
- Immersive catalog: Apple has generally described Apple-produced Immersive pieces as available at no additional charge in supported countries. “Free” therefore means no separate title fee after owning Vision Pro; it does not remove the hardware cost or guarantee access in every region.
- Subscriptions: Apple TV+ is a separate service. Apple listed its U.S. price as $12.99 per month, with a seven-day trial for new subscribers, in September 2025. Sports partners can impose their own authentication and subscription rules.
An Apple TV+ subscription does not automatically unlock every third-party Immersive experience, and NBA League Pass primarily supplies conventional NBA coverage rather than guaranteeing Apple Immersive treatment for every game.
Is Vision Pro worth buying for this catalog?
It makes the strongest case for
- Early adopters who want the highest-impact demonstrations of spatial video.
- Fans of Metallica, Bono, The Weeknd, the Lakers or the destinations and sports featured in the series.
- Frequent travelers and premium home-theater users who value presence over a large conventional library.
- Creators and filmmakers evaluating immersive capture and post-production workflows.
It is a weaker fit for
- Anyone expecting a Netflix-sized, rapidly refreshed catalog of full-length films.
- Viewers seeking inexpensive concert streaming or nationwide access to every live sport.
- People outside supported markets or those unwilling to manage regional apps and subscriptions.
The central trade-off is straightforward: the catalog can be technically extraordinary, but it remains relatively small, often short-form or episodic, and expensive to reach because the M5 headset starts at $3,499 in the United States.
What remains uncertain
Apple’s announcements do not constitute a permanently updated catalog. Release dates can move, projects can arrive first in selected countries, and a partner app can change its authentication requirements. The September 2025 projects from the BBC, CNN, Red Bull, Audi, HYBE, PHORIA and The Explorers should therefore be treated according to their stated status—available, scheduled or still awaiting details—not as a single completed slate.
Official sources also do not establish one universal download size, bandwidth requirement, offline policy or hardware requirement for every title. Those details belong to the individual Apple TV or partner-app listing. The most current starting points are Apple’s Vision Pro newsroom topic page and the relevant title or app on the headset.
