A 9to5Mac report published that day said Apple’s notice began at approximately 2:26 p.m. Eastern Time / 11:26 a.m. Pacific Time. Apple’s description said that “some users are affected” and might experience “intermittent issues.”
That wording describes a partial, uneven disruption—not necessarily a complete shutdown for every subscriber. The report did not document a comprehensive list of symptoms. Difficulty accessing Apple Music was reported, but specific failures such as playback, search, library syncing, or sign-in were not established for this incident.
Was the outage fixed?
The 9to5Mac headline was later marked “[Update: Fixed],” indicating that the incident had been resolved. The accessible article text does not provide the exact time service returned or describe the fix, so neither can be stated more precisely.

What did Apple say about the cause and scope?
The report said Apple provided no additional details about the incident. It did not establish a root cause, the number of people affected, a country-by-country scope, or which devices and platforms were involved. There is no basis in that report to attribute the disruption to an update, a particular network component, or a security incident.
What to do if Apple Music is not working now
For a current issue, first check Apple’s System Status page and look for Apple Music’s listing and any incident notice. The March 2025 report cannot establish the service’s present status.

- If Apple lists an outage: wait for Apple to restore service. Restarting or reinstalling the app is unlikely to resolve an Apple-side disruption. Avoid deleting downloads or changing your subscription while the service is confirmed to be affected.
- If Apple reports normal service: check whether other apps can connect to the internet. If the problem occurs only on one network, try another connection.
- Then check the app and device: close and reopen Music; if the issue persists, restart the device. If the problem continues, check account authentication, subscription or billing status, content restrictions, device software, and possible VPN, DNS, firewall, or workplace-network interference.
A status page showing normal service does not rule out a local or account-specific problem. Conversely, one person’s playback failure alone does not prove that Apple Music is experiencing a broader outage. During an incident, a downloaded track may or may not play depending on authorization and device state; offline playback is not guaranteed. If you need to stream immediately, another service you already use may be a temporary option.
