Amy Taylor said “All immigrants welcome” and “Land back” while accepting Album of the Year with Amyl and the Sniffers at the 2025 ARIA Awards. The remarks came within a joking setup in which Taylor imagined herself as Australia’s new prime minister—not as a formal policy announcement.
What did Amy Taylor say at the ARIAs?
ABC News’ live coverage transcribed Taylor’s remarks during the Album of the Year acceptance speech on 19 November 2025:
“As the new prime minister of Australia, I’d like to say, ‘All immigrants welcome’,” she said. “I’d like to say ‘Land back’, the dole’s going up, and every pub gets a million dollars.”
The headline phrases “Immigrants Welcome” and “Land Back” are shorthand for the fuller remarks ABC reported. The prime-minister framing was a joke, and the lines should be understood in that context rather than as a formal policy platform. ABC News’ live report also records Taylor’s separate closing comment: “The album’s really changed all of our lives. Probably won’t have to work at IGA ever again”.
