Amy Shark posed topless for a Rolling Stone magazine photo shoot, describing the decision as a risk she felt ready to take as her confidence grew. PerthNow reported the shoot on 20 March 2023; the photograph was credited to Michelle Grace Hunder/RollingStone.
What happened in the Rolling Stone shoot?
PerthNow reported that Shark agreed to the photo shoot after gaining confidence through her success in music and television. The image showed her wearing leather, with her hair covering her modesty. Its credit read Michelle Grace Hunder/RollingStone.
The report framed the shoot as a fashion and career risk, rather than simply a change in appearance. Shark said she had long thought of herself as someone who wore jeans and a T-shirt, and had not expected to take part in this kind of shoot.
How Amy Shark described her changing confidence
As quoted by PerthNow, Shark said she had initially had “zero self-esteem,” particularly around photo shoots. She described becoming more comfortable in her own skin as her career developed, and said that knowing herself better as an artist had changed how she approached her work.
She also characterized the shoot as showing another side of her as a musician and someone willing to take chances. “Nothing really scares me anymore,” she said, adding that she wanted to try as much as she could.
