When Karim Messoudi struggled to put his arm back into his jacket, he explained that a knife had ripped it. The mishap did not stop the performance: judge Mel B awarded the duo the Golden Buzzer, sending them directly to the live shows.
What happened during the audition
Brothers Karim and Soffien Messoudi performed as a duo, passing knives while taking off and putting back on their clothes. During the change, Karim had trouble getting his arm through his jacket. He said, “I ripped a hole in my jacket,” adding, “That’s why I couldn’t get my arm back in,” according to Parade’s June 3, 2025 recap.
The jacket tear was a mishap within the planned performance. The reports do not say that anyone was injured. The judges reacted to the act’s tension and spectacle: Simon Cowell called it “breathtaking,” and Howie Mandel said, “It’s incredibly dangerous.” Sofia Vergara asked, “This act was spectacular, no?”
Why the Messoudi Brothers advanced
Mel B praised the performance, telling the brothers, “I think you are perfect!” She pressed the Golden Buzzer, which advanced Karim and Soffien directly to the live shows. The AOL-republished Entertainment Weekly report, dated June 4, 2025, identifies the audition as part of the second episode of Season 20; the reports do not establish a definitive episode title or number.

How this return differed from their first AGT run
The brothers first appeared on America’s Got Talent in 2019, during Season 14, as a trio performing acrobatics and hand-balancing. That group reached the semifinals. For their Season 20 return, Karim and Soffien performed the knife-and-clothing-change act as a duo; their brother Yassin was not part of this performance.
Where to check for the episode
Peacock’s official America’s Got Talent page lists the series and describes Peacock as a streaming home for NBC shows. Its page lists Season 21, however, so it does not confirm that this specific Season 20 audition is currently available there.
