Amazon raised prices on select U.S. Music Unlimited plans in 2025. New customers saw the revised prices starting January 29; existing monthly subscribers were moved to the new rate at a monthly renewal on or after March 5. The change varied by plan, and annual subscribers should check their account notice for the applicable renewal date.
What changed in the U.S.?
Amazon’s U.S. Music Unlimited FAQ lists the previous and revised prices below. The timing for new customers was January 29, 2025. For existing customers, Amazon specifies the new price at the monthly renewal on or after March 5, 2025.
| Plan | Previous price | Revised price | Timing Amazon specifies |
|---|---|---|---|
| Individual, Prime member, monthly | $9.99/month | $10.99/month | New customers from Jan. 29, 2025; existing customers at monthly renewal on or after Mar. 5, 2025 |
| Individual, Prime member, annual | $99/year | $109/year | New customers from Jan. 29, 2025; check account notice for existing subscribers’ annual renewal |
| Individual, non-Prime, monthly | $10.99/month | $11.99/month | New customers from Jan. 29, 2025; existing customers at monthly renewal on or after Mar. 5, 2025 |
| Family, monthly | $16.99/month | $19.99/month | New customers from Jan. 29, 2025; existing customers at monthly renewal on or after Mar. 5, 2025 |
| Family, annual | $169/year | $199/year | New customers from Jan. 29, 2025; check account notice for existing subscribers’ annual renewal |
Amazon’s U.S. FAQ describes the notice as applying to “select” plans. Its existing-customer timing statement refers to monthly renewals; it does not separately set out a date for existing annual subscribers. Check the renewal terms shown on your own account rather than assuming the monthly date applies.
How to check your plan and next charge
- Open Amazon Music and go to Music Settings to identify which plan you have.
- Check your Amazon account billing details or the price-change notice for the next charge and renewal date.
- Compare that account-specific information with the plan and prices in Amazon’s U.S. FAQ before deciding whether to keep or change the subscription.
Amazon’s FAQ does not establish that every customer, billing channel, or country follows the same schedule. This article covers the U.S. price change documented in that FAQ, not a complete worldwide price history.

What the subscription includes—and what Prime already provides
Amazon distinguishes the music benefit included with Prime from Music Unlimited. Prime’s included music is described as listening in shuffle mode; Unlimited is the paid upgrade for on-demand access and higher-quality audio. Amazon’s Prime benefits page explains the distinction.
Amazon currently advertises Unlimited in the U.S. with more than 100 million songs, ad-free on-demand listening, HD and spatial audio, podcasts, and one audiobook monthly. These are Amazon’s service claims and can change; the live product page also displays trial offers whose terms may vary. The live page lists Individual monthly pricing at $11.99, or $10.99 for Prime members, so check it alongside your account before relying on a listed price.

Should you keep or change plans?
Prime Individual
Amazon lists a lower Individual monthly price for Prime members than for non-members. If you already have Prime, compare the current account price with the non-Prime option before changing anything; the historical 2025 notice is not a substitute for the price currently offered to your account.
Family
Amazon says the Family plan supports up to six members. Compare its current price with the cost and practicalities of separate subscriptions for the people who would use it. Amazon’s help information covers switching among Individual, Single Device, and Family plans: Amazon Music plan help.

Prime benefit without Unlimited
If shuffle listening meets your needs, the music included with Prime may be enough; Unlimited is relevant when on-demand selection or its higher-quality audio features matter to you. Weigh those differences against the price and features shown for your account.
Amazon’s UK subscription terms say a fee increase does not change the cost during the current Unlimited plan term, but those UK terms should not be treated as the governing U.S. contract. For U.S. billing, use the terms and notice attached to your account.
