Yes. BioWare confirmed in its November 7, 2025 N7 Day update that it is working closely with Amazon on a Mass Effect television series. The show is planned as a new story set after the original trilogy—not a retelling of Commander Shepard’s story. A release date, cast and episode count have not been established in the reviewed sources.
What BioWare has confirmed about the series
In its N7 Day 2025 update, BioWare executive producer Michael Gamble said the writers’ room was active. He also said the team had worked out how the series fits within Mass Effect canon and relates to the next game. That confirms active development and attention to continuity, but it does not reveal a plot, characters, episode count or release date.

When will the Mass Effect show come out?
No premiere date or release window is established by the reviewed sources. PC Gamer reported on June 17, 2026, that no release date had been announced as of that publication. The absence of a date in that report is a snapshot, not a guarantee about later announcements.
Will the series follow Commander Shepard?
No. Gamble described the show as a new story in the franchise timeline, set after the original trilogy, and said it would not retell Shepard’s story. In his words, “The show will explore a brand-new story within the universe’s timeline, and will be set after the original trilogy.”

BioWare has not identified which ending of Mass Effect 3 the series will treat as canon, or said whether familiar characters will appear. Its statement establishes the broad placement and approach, not the details of how the show will handle the trilogy’s possible outcomes.
Who is writing the show?
Variety reported on November 7, 2024, that Daniel Casey was set to write and executive produce the project, then in development at Amazon MGM Studios. That staffing credit comes from Variety’s reporting; BioWare’s November 2025 update did not repeat it. Variety’s report is available at its original article.

Where will the Mass Effect series stream?
The available official update confirms BioWare’s work with Amazon, but does not establish a premiere date or provide viewing details. A development partnership alone is not enough to confirm where or when viewers will be able to watch the finished series.

Mass Effect Legendary Edition is an official collection of the original trilogy’s games. It is one way to revisit the source universe, but it has not been identified as a required primer or a show tie-in.
