The auction description and contemporary reporting attribute a no-sticker presentation, a white rear-fog-light lens, a large ECU-linked dashboard display and a long list of named performance, chassis and interior parts to the Walker-specification build. It was the film’s genuine GT-R hero car; the Skyline destroyed in the movie was a GT-T-based stunt replica.
One distinction matters immediately: this is not Walker’s privately owned silver 1999 R34 V-Spec. That separate car is discussed in Motor Authority’s account of Walker’s personal R34s. The car described here was prepared for the fourth film.
What Walker was asking Kaizo to build
Kaizo Industries started with a Japanese-market R34 acquired without an engine, imported it to the United States and installed an RB26DETT with the associated hardware. The completed car was titled as a constructed or kit vehicle. Reporting supports the broad description that Kaizo built it to Walker’s specification, but no surviving signed checklist identifies which individual decision came from Walker, Kaizo, Universal or the production department. Where the provenance is specifically an auction claim, it is identified that way below.
Powertrain and exhaust requests
More cooling and boost
The rebuilt RB26DETT received a Turbonetics front-mounted intercooler and increased turbo boost. Auction-derived reports put the resulting output at approximately 550 hp (one account gives 558 hp). That is a reported specification, not a published, independently verified dyno result.

Nismo NE-1 exhaust
A Nismo NE-1 exhaust system was part of the listed Walker-specification hardware. Together with the intercooler and boost changes, it formed the engine-and-breathing package described in the auction material. Hagerty’s auction coverage summarizes the powertrain specification.
Suspension, structure and brakes
- Nismo lowering springs: lowered the car and changed its suspension stance.
- ARC titanium strut brace: added reinforcement across the front suspension towers.
- Custom roll cage: converted the cabin toward a competition and filming environment.
- Rotora brakes: six-piston front calipers and four-piston rear calipers were listed.
These components are documented as part of the completed Walker-specification build. The sources do not establish that Walker personally fitted or dyno-tested each part. The detailed component list appears in Paultan’s auction report.
Exterior choices: clean Bayside Blue instead of a decal-heavy prop
No sticker-bomb treatment
According to the auction listing as reported by The Drive, Walker wanted the car without the busy sticker-bomb or excessive vinyl treatment associated with some earlier Fast & Furious cars. The result left the Bayside Blue paint and the R34’s shape visually dominant.

Body pieces and wheels
- 19-inch Volk Racing RE30 wheels: one report specifies an 11-inch width.
- Nismo Version II bumper and side skirts: supplied the lower-body treatment.
- East Bear hood (bonnet): another named exterior component.
White rear fog-light lens
The Drive’s account says the auction listing attributed a request to replace the original red rear-fog-light lens with a white lens. That is a listing-based provenance detail, not an independently documented interview quotation from Walker.

Cabin changes aimed at the driver
Roll cage, deleted rear seats and racing restraints
The rear seats were removed to make room for the custom cage. OMP racing seats and a five-point restraint system replaced the normal street-car arrangement. The auction material claimed that the driver’s seat remained in the position last set for Walker during filming; that claim cannot be independently verified from the available documentation.
Steering wheel, pedals and audio
- Momo Sport Alcantara steering wheel
- Nismo V-Spec pedals, visible in close-up during the film’s race countdown according to auction-related coverage
- Sony head unit
These details made the interior read as a working driver’s car rather than a shell dressed only for a camera angle. Racecar’s Bonhams summary carries the itemized specification and provenance language.

The unusual dashboard computer
The most conspicuous special request was a large dashboard-mounted display. Auction reporting put its cost at nearly £8,500 and described a custom head-up-display arrangement. The unit was an MFD Xenarc display programmed with gauges connected to the car’s ECU, allowing engine information to appear on screen during the street-race scenes.
The sources establish the screen, its ECU-linked gauges and the reported cost; they do not establish the exact software, wiring architecture or control hardware. Paultan and Racecar describe the display installation.
Which changes were truly Walker’s requests?
| Category | What the evidence supports |
|---|---|
| Walker-attributed personal requests | No sticker-heavy livery; white rear-fog-light lens; large display; preference for a fast, clean, driver-focused car. |
| Named parts in the Walker specification | Turbonetics intercooler, increased boost, Nismo NE-1 exhaust and lowering springs, ARC brace, Rotora brakes, Volk RE30 wheels, Nismo/East Bear body parts, roll cage, OMP seats, Momo wheel, Nismo pedals, Sony head unit and MFD Xenarc display. |
| Production and legal requirements | Engine-less import, RB26DETT installation, constructed/kit-vehicle title, GT-T stunt doubles and the later seizure and export history. |
The third row should not be presented as a list of styling requests. It explains how the movie car came into existence and why its paperwork is unusual.

The real GT-R was not the car that exploded
The Kaizo R34 was used for hero shots and driving footage. Multiple rear-wheel-drive GT-T Skylines were fitted with East Bear-style bodywork to act as stunt and destruction cars. The genuine GT-R therefore survived the film; the car shown being destroyed was a replica. Racecar and GTPlanet explain the hero-car and stunt-car split.
Import dispute, title history and auction result
After filming, the car was seized and became involved in a lengthy legal dispute before eventually being exported to Germany. Those events concern import and title status, not Walker’s modification brief.
Bonhams offered the car in Brussels from April 28 to May 5, 2023. Historical auction records report a sale price of US$1,357,000 on May 5, 2023. That is a completed historical result, not a current asking price or evidence that the car is presently for sale. Classic.com’s result record gives the date and amount.

Walker’s requests were distinctive because they resisted turning the R34 into a generic movie prop. The clean exterior, motorsport-style cabin, serious braking and suspension hardware, and ECU-fed display all served the same idea: a recognizable Skyline that looked prepared for its driver first and the camera second. The documented evidence supports that overall direction while leaving the precise authorship of some individual parts unresolved.
