EJ became a public figure in his own right through reality television and fashion commentary, while speaking about identity and pronouns in his own words. Here’s what is established about his family, career and public profile.
Who is Magic Johnson’s son EJ?
EJ Johnson is Earvin Johnson III, one of the children of Magic and Cookie Johnson. Magic Johnson’s official biography identifies him as chairman and CEO of Magic Johnson Enterprises, but EJ’s public story is distinct from his father’s business and basketball career.
EJ’s visibility has also involved questions of privacy. The Los Angeles Times reported in 2023 that TMZ outed him in 2013 and that Magic had publicly expressed support. The outing was an invasion of EJ’s privacy, not a defining achievement or the sum of his life.
What shows has EJ Johnson been on?
Rich Kids of Beverly Hills
EJ first came to wider public attention on E!’s reality series Rich Kids of Beverly Hills. In a March 2026 interview, he recalled that he was at a filmed pool party when producers approached him afterward about becoming a series regular. He said he had not entered the opportunity with a detailed career plan.

What is EJ Johnson known for in fashion?
Fashion has long been part of EJ’s public image. An E! report from February 2014 quoted him describing his everyday fashion must-haves as “Bold shoes, bold handbags.” In a January 2015 Teen Vogue profile, he discussed a fashion and lifestyle blog and credited his mother, Cookie, with teaching him to assemble outfits: “She taught us how to dress and put outfits together.”
These are dated comments and coverage, not evidence of a current fashion label, product line, endorsement or shopping recommendation. In that same 2015 profile, Teen Vogue said EJ was studying hospitality, event planning and design at NYU; this is historical education information, not a claim about his present studies.

What does EJ Johnson say about pronouns and identity?
In a March 12, 2026 interview on Reality with The King, EJ said he prefers being called EJ: “I just say call me EJ as much as possible.” He added that “they is fine, you know whatever, she is cool,” and described feeling happy in his body.
Those comments express an open, personal approach. They are best understood in the casual context in which EJ said them, rather than converted into a more definitive identity label than he chose for himself.

How did fame change EJ’s public life?
In Teen Vogue’s 2015 profile, EJ described the practical change that came with recognition: “The big change is having to take pictures with everyone and stop and talk to people who know about things going on in my life.” That observation complements his later account of how a chance appearance led to a reality-TV role: public attention developed through television exposure rather than a detailed plan he had laid out in advance.
