Jurassic Park (1993) ranks first in Rotten Tomatoes’ July 2025 ranking of all seven theatrical films, while Jurassic World Rebirth lands fourth. That order uses the Tomatometer—not a universal verdict on which movie is most enjoyable. Here is the complete ranking, with the displayed scores and the criteria behind using them as a comparison point.
How this ranking works
This list follows Rotten Tomatoes’ editorial ranking published July 2, 2025, which orders the seven films by their displayed Tomatometer scores. The Tomatometer reflects critics’ reviews; it does not measure every viewer’s preference or settle which film is best for a particular fan. The scores can change as reviews are added, so treat them as a dated snapshot rather than permanent ratings. See Rotten Tomatoes’ ranking and editorial summaries.
For a personal ranking, useful points of comparison include suspense and set-piece execution, character and story coherence, how dramatically the dinosaurs are used, visual craft, originality, and each film’s contribution to the franchise. The order below is specifically the critics-score order, not a claim that those criteria produce one objective answer.
The seven Jurassic Park and World movies, ranked
-
Jurassic Park (1993) — 91%
Steven Spielberg’s original leads this Tomatometer ranking by a substantial margin. It is the natural starting point for the franchise’s central premise: bringing dinosaurs back into a modern world and confronting the consequences. Rotten Tomatoes’ displayed score was 91% in the July 2025 ranking.

Jurassic World (2015) — 72%
The first film under the Jurassic World name takes second place in the cited order. Its 72% displayed Tomatometer score put it ahead of every sequel other than the original in that ranking.
-
The Lost World: Jurassic Park (1997) — 57%
The second theatrical film in the series ranks third, with a displayed score of 57%. Its position makes it the highest-ranked sequel released before the 2015 relaunch.

Jurassic World Rebirth (2025) — 50%
Rebirth is fourth in Rotten Tomatoes’ July 2025 list, one percentage point above Jurassic Park III in that snapshot. The score is not a stable attribute: Rotten Tomatoes’ film page displayed a 50% Tomatometer from 407 reviews and a 70% Popcornmeter from more than 10,000 verified ratings when accessed October 4, 2026. The Popcornmeter is an audience measure, distinct from the critics’ Tomatometer. Check the current Rotten Tomatoes score and release information.
The film is directed by Gareth Edwards and written by David Koepp, based on characters created by Michael Crichton. Set five years after Jurassic World Dominion, its story follows covert-operations expert Zora Bennett (Scarlett Johansson), Duncan Kincaid (Mahershala Ali), and paleontologist Dr. Henry Loomis (Jonathan Bailey) on an extraction mission. The team seeks genetic material from three colossal creatures—one each from land, sea, and air—for a drug; the mission crosses paths with a shipwrecked civilian family on a forbidden island that once housed a Jurassic Park research facility. Universal’s official synopsis provides the premise and credits.

Jurassic Park III (2001) — 49%
The third Jurassic Park film sits just below Rebirth in this score-based ordering, at 49%. The one-point gap is a narrow distinction in a mutable aggregator score, not a guarantee that every viewer will prefer the film above it.
-
Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom (2018) — 47%
Fallen Kingdom ranks sixth, with a 47% displayed Tomatometer score in the July 2025 list.

Jurassic World Dominion (2022) — 28%
Dominion is seventh in the cited critics-score ranking, at 28%. It is also the film immediately preceding Rebirth in the story timeline, which is set five years later.

What the ranking can—and cannot—tell you
The clearest result of this particular comparison is that the original Jurassic Park leads the critics-score order, followed by Jurassic World and The Lost World. Rebirth is fourth, just ahead of Jurassic Park III by the displayed 2025 scores. That is a useful shared reference point, but scores compress different reviews into one number; they cannot tell you which movie’s characters, dinosaur scenes, or style you will enjoy most.
For context about Rebirth’s theatrical launch—not its artistic quality—the Associated Press reported studio estimates of a $318.3 million worldwide and $147.3 million North American five-day opening in 2025. It also reported a net production cost of $180 million, excluding marketing and promotion. Those are dated studio estimates reported by AP, not measures of critical or audience satisfaction.
